1850 Wine Cellars Tasting Room — Attraction in Placerville

This was our best wine tasting experience, ever. For a very reasonable tasting fee of only $5 we got to taste 7 different wines - and re-taste our favorites. Christa was pouring for us and was super friendly and knowledgable. Granted, it was Monday afternoon and a slow day, so YMMV if it's crowded. We bought a bottle each of our favorites and the tasting fee applied. I wish we'd know they had small plates available, but we'd just had lunch or we'd have had something off their menu. If you go to Sutter Creek for wine tasting, make sure to visit this place. Just off Main Street, the tasting room clean and nicely decorated. The bar is a beautiful finished slab of Modesto ash from a tree that grew in Davis, CA. The wines are excellent with some very nice varietals and the staff is very friendly. Sara was an absolute delight and so were the 1850 wines! My husband and I popped in for a quick tasting on a Friday afternoon and really enjoyed our experience. The wine, atmosphere, and outdoor seating were perfect! We look forward to visiting again, hopefully...
