We decided to try highway 50 brewery. Unfortunately it wasn’t a great visit. If I could rate the beer and Restraunt different I would give the beer four stars and the food, service and quality 1 star. The Restraunt/food was a bad experience for us. It’s over priced with very small portions. You don’t get served you do everything yourself at a very high price. Picture attached of just the fry’s which were almost $6.00 it was so small. When I questioned the portion size when we came up and got our own food the associate just stated I don’t make the rules and agreed with they were small. Chili dog was tiny as well. It was like having the cheapest hot dog with some canned chili very bland in fact I think the hot dog was microwaved it didn’t have any grill marks and was like warm. The Pizza was ok but $15 for a tiny portion. The patio was nice but there wasn’t very many people there and the food took about 45 minutes. If you’re going to want food and drinks I would not recommend this place. If you want some drinks then it would be a good choice. We probably won’t ever return. Lots of other places around that provide better food, service and...
Read moreHwy 50 Brewery passes the vibe check for sure! Its convenient proximity to Apple Hill surely keeps this place busy. The huge, dog friendly patio with scenic views was the reason we stopped, but we’ll opt for a picnic at one of the farms next year.
We ordered a 12” combination pizza on cauliflower crust ($42), a side salad ($6.50), chili cheese fries ($10), and a 16 oz beer ($8).
The cauliflower crust pizza is rung up as 2 regular $21 combination pizzas—apparently x2 is the surcharge for cauliflower crust. Anywhere else it’s a $3-$5 surcharge, and this one was average at best. The rest of the food was ok. It’s counter service, so you order at the register and go grab your tray of food when your buzzer goes off. Food is served on paper plates & bowls, cutlery is plastic, and the only non alcoholic beverage they have is water… and the self-serve water dispenser was empty the entire time we were there.
We left feeling confused at the $70 (+tip) lunch experience. I guess you’re really paying for the view… and the...
Read moreI just left the brewery and it was pure chaos. An older woman—who didn’t even work there—was dragging chairs all over the patio, determined to claim every single high-back chair for herself. She went so far as to push together about a quarter of the tables to set up a “nest” for her group, who weren’t even there yet.
Then things escalated. Another, even older couple sat at a table near her setup, and the first lady immediately started yelling at them. To their credit, the second lady stood her ground. About ten minutes later, a younger woman from the first lady’s group tried to physically pull the table away from the older couple.
Employees told me this happens all the time—apparently the first woman is connected with the band that plays there. I just wanted to have a beer and relax, but when that band (and their self-appointed “chair sheriff”) is around, it’s anything but relaxing. At one point, she was literally knocking chairs over and yanking tall chairs away from other people’s...
