Honestly I feel like this park is a downgrade with the remodel. There isn't much for the kids to do especially kiddos between 2-4 besides swings. I like the idea that they were trying to go with a natural playground vibe with the slide and the balance beam but it fell short. The grass is so dry it pokes your feet and gives slivers. The bathrooms are so far away from the park. The dog water fountain is a nice add. But honestly it's not a park I like to visit. We mostly go after we are getting ice cream or hot dogs across the street. We might stop over for a few minutes. There are other county parks that are...
Read moreWe recently visited this park while participating in a Kent County Park volunteer project (planting more seeds in the flower prairie).
The park has a nice pavilion and playground as well as a walking trail that loops the entire park and a huge open grass area perfect for picnics. There is also a small creek that runs along the edge of the park and a look over to get a better view of the creek. Along the creek that are wonderful native grasses and flowers to help pollinators and control erosion during the wet season.
Overall lots to do and see at this one location but not the best park that Kent County...
Read moreI love Dwight Lydell park! There is the beautiful and historic water well located next to the library. It was a great location to take pictures when it was my senior year. The Mill Creek Days takes places here Aug 10-12 so it becomes a very festive area. The pavilion is booked very frequently during the summer time for events which is nice to see. Very clean. Also the location where the Comstock Park Public Schools homecoming parade starts. Could probably use more picnic benches but otherwise seating is very nice.
