Please be CAREFUL at this park. We have been coming here everyday and doing a 5k or riding bikes for almost two years now. We also have gone zip lining here. This park is amazing however you will occasionally have an encounter that may be negative.
Anywho, Yesterday my minor child and I experienced an attack. The police were called. There is a woman walking around and stopping people including minors and trying to convert them. This woman took my minor and started talking to her. It takes approximately 12 minutes for my daughter and I to get around the track. I thought my child was kidnapped because she was behind me and then she disappeared. I found her and then told the woman that we were not interested. This woman was talking to her for over 5 minutes. The woman grew very upset as we took off to complete our jog. Understand we are out here trying to get ready for a competition which means weāre on a mission.
She then passed me again and said āyou people need to be nicerā. (My daughter and I were very polite to her). The woman couldnāt take no for an answer and continued yelling. This isnāt the first time that weāve seen her. I told her no thank you a few days prior. I called the police because she was aggressive and persistent on speaking to whomever she wanted including minors. If a parent tells you to not speak with their minor child, than donāt. Im very open to the differences within cultures however thereās boundaries that everyone should follow. When the police arrived I pointed her out and he waited for her to approach however the office seemed a little nonchalant.
Anyways keep your eyes on your kids even though you can see the entire lake someone could take your kid into a cut where you canāt see them in a matter of seconds. I just want to put this out there that I am an AA and this is the second racial attack in less than 2 months. We donāt bother anyone. We are new to Texas and thought Plano would be a nice fit because it appeared peaceful. We keep the peace and stay to ourselves. We donāt fit the stereotype of whatever narrative that some are leading with. Sowry not sowry.
*thank you Officer M. Diamondson I hope you were able to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLove this park, all different areas of it! Tonight we simply took the motorcycles and went to help catch some Pokemon by the water.....it was somewhat later in the evening though and seemingly suspicious activity when some of the parks younger patrons were leaving, they seemed REALLY interested in the bikes, both street bikes and not super fancy, a Ninja 500 and Suzuki Bandit 1250, but in very good condition, so the guys caught our attention when they were leaving in a big truck because of how they pulled out, then came back and were just kinda hanging out by the bikes long enough for us to notice and keep an eye out on them. It isn't that difficult to pick up and toss in the back of a truck 2 bikes like that with as many of them that were there. But nothing happened just more of a statement or reminder, just like anywhere, make sure you have situational awareness. We have never felt unsafe at the parks, so please don't take this simple experience and make it into something more, we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat place during the week and when it is cooler. The weekend is just busy. I like the ability to find place and be alone or with one or two friends. Bring a lawn chair, go back into the woods, and read or deeply converse. Leave cell phone and tablets in the car. Great place to unplug and spend real time with your friends and/or family. After all, isn't life really about relationships with real people - I do not mean Pokemon or Facebook friends. Yes, the walking trail is great and the fishing is OK. But I like to wander off into the woods and sit in the creek bottom. ...
