🐾 Windhaven Dog Park: Plano’s Premier Pup Paradise

Rating: 🦴🦴🦴🦴🦴 (5/5 bones — because stars are for humans) Location: 5369 Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, TX 75093 Hours: 6:00 AM – 10:30 PM (Closed Wednesdays until 4 PM for maintenance) Categories: Dog Parks | Pet-Friendly Spaces | Outdoor Recreation | Family-Friendly Parks | Off-Leash Areas | Small Dog Zones | Large Dog Zones | Dog Wash Stations | Shaded Seating | LED-Lit Parks | Singles-Friendly | Zen Hotspots

🐕 Two Parks, One Dream

Windhaven isn’t just a dog park — it’s a canine kingdom split into two majestic lands:

• Small Dog Park: For the tiny tail-waggers with big Napoleon energy • Large Dog Park: Where bigger breeds gallop freely and awkwardly sit on laps because, apparently, boundaries are for cats

Each area is secure, clean, and kitted out with water stations, poop bag dispensers, and rinse stations — essential for post-romp hygiene.

🌳 Human Perks (Because You Matter Too)

• Paved trails perfect for walking, jogging, or pondering life’s mysteries • Shaded benches for supervising and gossiping • Clean public restrooms — because miracles do exist • LED lighting makes this park feel like the Coachella of canine hangouts

💘 Unexpected Perks: Love Unleashed?

Listen, you came for dog enrichment… but love? Love might just tackle you. Windhaven is a known hotspot for dog-loving singles. One minute you’re discussing doodle grooming techniques, the next you’re locked in soulful eye contact over a shared poop bag disaster. It’s not just about letting the dogs mingle — sometimes your future spouse is just one leash length away.

And if you don’t meet your soulmate? At least your dog will.

😂 Funny But True

• Your dog will rack up more Instagram followers here than you ever will • The small dog section? A Chihuahua support group meets Hunger Games • The rinse station is like a doggie spa crossed with a prison escape • First dates here might involve picking up poop together — intimate AND practical

🧠 (Dog Park) Goldmine

Whether you’re Googling “best dog parks in Plano TX,” “off-leash dog hangouts,” “dog rinse stations near me,” or “where to meet dog-loving singles in Texas,” Windhaven tops the list. It’s spacious, welcoming, and meticulously maintained — a model dog park for the...

Great, huge park for dogs. Easy to social distance as long as you avoid the front pavillion as people tend to gather there. Grass is kept nice, and the park is cleaned regularly. No dog park is perfect, but most owners here watch their dogs and don't bring in aggressive/non-fixed pets. That being said, be wary - there is one aggressive pit (grey with pink collar) in the park constantly, and the owner is always MIA. If you see this dog, just leave, it's not worth risking an incident.

Park has a nice walking path on the outer rim for owners to get some exercise, too.

PSA - dog parks are for dogs, not children. There's literally a separate children's park right next to it. The dog park is not a petting zoo for non-owners either. Please keep kids out and keep dogs in the appropriate area based on size.

Update Fall 2023 - The park is still in good condition and is well maintained. My only major comment this time around is on dog owners. One dog/person can ruin it for everyone else, and that happened today. One dog was running aggressively at cyclists along the fence and triggering negative reactions from other dogs, and owner is nowhere in site. You have a responsibility to stay with your dog/keep an eye on them for disruptive behavior and remove them from the park as necessary for not only their safety but...

I’d give the park 5 stars except for the fact that the shower spray m, used to help keep dogs cool in this heat, has been off for months. There is a spray outside the park but it’s a mess trying to leash, unleash dogs & get them out & back in for a bit of a refreshing spray! Many of the resident regulars have been complaining. At the same time the water fountain just after you come in the gate has been running since Wednesday afternoon (48 hours) with no way to shut it off. Many great dogs here, great grass & reasonably clean … the park personal keep it clean! The few negatives that are not the parks doing are the kids & sometimes dogs that are dropped off with no one supervising while Parents run...

My puppy Eir (the blue Great Dane) and I had a wonderful time, the dog park area was really big, other dogs and their owners where super sweet, and although we did not check out the trails we will for sure be coming back and checking those out later. The dog area had its own small paths that you could walk along inside the fenced in area, there where a couple places with benches, shade, and water fountains. For not being our usual park and for being about 30 minutes away this was deffinately worth the drive and will likely be our go-to for whenever we’re in the area.
