Review Title: A BBQ Experience That Feels Like Home
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I've traveled across Texas in search of the ultimate BBQ experience, and I must say, H-E-B True Texas BBQ in Plano is a hidden gem that deserves all the accolades. Here's why this place has earned a solid five stars from me:
The Food: Let's talk about the brisket - it's nothing short of legendary. Each slice is a perfect harmony of smoke, tenderness, and flavor, easily competing with the best I've had anywhere in Texas. But don't let the brisket overshadow the turkey, which is a revelation in itself. Moist, flavorful, with just the right hint of smoke, it's a must-try for anyone who thinks turkey can't be exciting.
The Service: Service here isn't just good; it's exceptional. Karen, in particular, stands out. She's not just an employee; she's an ambassador of hospitality. The fact that she remembers my name and my wife's name adds a personal touch that makes dining here feel like you're being welcomed into a friend's home. This kind of service transforms a meal into an experience.
Ambiance: The atmosphere at H-E-B True Texas BBQ strikes the perfect balance between casual and welcoming, with that authentic Texas BBQ joint feel. It's clean, well-organized, and there's always a buzz of satisfied customers which adds to the lively environment.
Overall Experience: Every visit feels like a celebration of Texas BBQ tradition. From the moment you walk in, you're treated not just as a customer, but as a guest. The combination of top-tier BBQ, especially that brisket and turkey, along with the warm, personalized service from staff like Karen, makes this place a must-visit.
If you're in Plano or even if you're not, make the trip. H-E-B True Texas BBQ isn't just about eating; it's about experiencing Texas hospitality at its finest. Highly...
Read moreOur family orders a Family Meal (4) from Dickeys at least once a month, but decided to go off course and try the drive-thru BBQ from our beloved HEB while waiting for our grocery pickup to be ready. We ordered the family meal. It is 10 less than Dickey's. The only choice for the brisket was either fatty or lean and the other 1lb was Turkey. Disappointed as we love ordering a lb of chopped and a lb of sliced briskit from Dickeys. No biggie the sliced was moist and flavorful and even the turkey was nice but just SUPER SALTY. My kids had to cut off the edges due to the saltiness. The sides were mixed. The greens were AMAZING!!!! The mac/cheese was kid perfection, but the beans were a runny bean soup. Great seasoning, but if you could strain the beans out of their watery abode, you might get a 1/3 cup of beans w/ a large side order. The bread was TWO pieces of skinny white bread as the bread. We really could have used a loaf to sop up all the runny bean juice. Plenty of pickle and onion slices. Also got a free gallon of tea and TWO tiny lil prepackaged pods of sauce. Maybe 2 ozs. for 2 lbs of meat. argh. By the time we got home, GREASE was pooling in the bottom of the med plastic bag evreything had been stuffed in. And the paper wrapped packages of meat where WET and greasy. 2 sets of plastic wear, 3 clean wipes and 4 small napkins. While the greens were amazing and the beans have potential when drained, I won't go back. I was honestly shocked. Stick with Dickeys...
Read moreI ordered today a simple sandwich and a drink and paid. I waited for at least 15 minutes while multiple customers who ordered after me got their orders. Eventually I went back to the counter to ask for my money back and they just started stalling - they told me "yes, in a minute" then "only the manager can do that" and "we're working on it". Eventually, after another 5-10 minutes of being jerked around, I raised my voice and demanded to see the manager but whoever that person is refused to come to the counter. At the end I told them that I will do a charge back on my credit card with my bank and walked out. I spent nearly 30 minutes inside and got nothing (they gave me a cup but I didn't drink anything because I was waiting for the food). I ate here before, the food is OK but nothing to write home about. Needless to say, I'll never come back.
Order details (hopefully the manager gets disciplined based on this): Date: 2024/06/19 12:56 Receipt: 1039 8010 0619 2412 5600 790 Total: $9.24
Update 2024/06/21: HEB put a message under the review to call their number which I did (around 11:13 AM). I talked to a person called "Sheryl" and I ended up hanging up after the absolute condescending tone she was using with me. It's like HEB is doing me a favor by taking my money and not providing a product...
