We celebrated the wedding of Ranjith and Natasha on Oct 18th, 2020 at the Swaminarayan Gurukul temple in Plano, Texas. We had a fantastic experience with the location, the facilities, the people, the food and in general pretty much everything. I would rate the Swaminarayan Gurukul a 10 (out of 10) and if anyone is considering the facility for an event like a wedding or similar celebration, I recommend it wholeheartedly.
Gurukul has a fairly large size hall for weddings and functions that is attached to the main temple complex. The quality of the hall and facilities are excellent. It can accommodate events that can range from 50 people up to a couple of hundred. The seating arrangements as well as setting up a stage or audio/video capabilities are excellent. The dining and kitchen are also of exceptional quality. The food is catered by the temple kitchen itself and it is excellent. The fact that the catering for the event is tied to the hall makes the logistics simple. The facility also has multiple rooms on the 2nd floor which can be used by the bridge/groom and families for preparation or rest during long events like a wedding. These rooms are as good or better than any Marriott.
The thing that most impressed me about my experience with Swaminarayan Gurukul was the people. I interacted with Haresh primarily. The fact is that they are such dedicated volunteers and will ensure that everything is taken care of perfectly. They are responsive to your needs and will do everything to make your event a grand success. I commend the discipline and dedication of the Swaminarayan gurukul volunteers.
I am confident that Gurukul in Plano, Texas will continue to be a venue for many weddings and celebrations in years to come. You will cherish the memories and the place.

Read moreI lived in Closter in Bergen County, New Jersey from 2008-2011. There was no Swaminarayan temple nearby then. Our entire family studied in Rajkot Swaminarayan Gurukul. Four of us in my family including two sons saw the modern way of life around us. There were frequent thoughts of keeping both of our children away from modern culture. I was looking for an environment where religious rites could be preserved n the next generation. As time passed, one day as if God had heard my prayer, I received a call from my beloved Swami in the Dallas Gurukul. I was working at a good job at that time yet I decided to quite working. On Saturday 3rd September 2011, I decided to come to Dallas from New Jersey and stay at a holy Gurukul like environment with the intention of inculcating religious rites in children. Since 2011 we have been living near Gurukul. Our real wealth lies in instilling religious rites in our children. Over time the children became engineers by studying with the religious rites of the Gurukul. Currently, they work as an engineer in a famous chip manufacturing company in the world. I am very thankful to the Gurukul family. By surrendering to God in this way, God himself removes our worries. So you also come to such a holy Gurukul temple for the future of children, keep the family away from the modern way of life and take shelter in such a holy Gurukul temple with the intention of preserving the Hinduism for the children. Read moreI called Their catering service for 3 times and the extension 3 is there catering extension. When I called some Babubhai was sitting there. He was rude. He did not even want to listen to what I was asking. Kept on saying “nai bane”. Then he said we only take order for 50 or more people. And hung up. When I called again he said we can’t make what you are requesting. I was requesting “kachori”. Then I died - “what can you make? I will take that. He said full menu. I said okay I need full menu for 50. He changed his statement and said 100 or more. I asked him “u said 50 or more”. He said now I changed. So what??
And hung up the phone
Rude behavior. They don’t respect women. It’s all just a game when they say we respect women. We don’t talk to them or whatever. Worst experience I had. This happened in August of 2025. Babubhai Patel should not be allowed to volunteer if he cannot be polite and respectful. He does not even know how to answer a question bcos foe answering a question he has to first listen to it. He has no patience to listen to what the person is asking.
This is not seva. This is called killing time sitting there and...
