We were looking for halal desi and stumbled upon this place almost by a process of elimination. Plenty of easy parking. New’ish place, clean and very nicely set up. It’s organized a bit like bistro. So you stand in the line to place your order. Then find a table and food is brought to your table.

The place was not busy at all when we came for a late lunch on Sunday. Ordering process was smooth. The owner is related to the original owners of Cafe de Khan on Tariq Road Karachi (this was 80’s and 90’s, I suppose). I have wonderful memories of that place from my childhood. They had a lot of family photos on the wall.

We were just two of us, and we ordered:

Chicken Karahi Beef Nihari Qandahari Naan Puri Paratha

Nihari was awesome. Just the right amount of kick. The color was authentic. Serving size was small, but perfectly portioned for two people (who are keeping an eye on calories).

Chicken Karahi was white. That was unexpected. Apparently they use family recipes. But once we dived into it, the taste was so good - and quite authentic. Plus the quality of meat was much nicer - compared to what we usually see in karahi at other restaurants.

Qandahari naan were too crisp, and not worth it. Fortunately, the owner brought some regular naan - on the house - just as we were about to give up on Qandahari. The regular naan were soft and nice.

Puri Paratha is more like puri. And not like Bundoo Khan type Puri Paratha. Freshly made, it was light and fluffy.

We also got their kheer - again, on the house. It was very nice.

Both the owners are very friendly, came over and chatted for a fair bit.

Highly recommend this place. Next time we will like to try their BBQ and...

If you're craving authentic Pakistani cuisine, look no further than cafe de khan . From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.

The service here is exceptional. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations based on your preferences. You never feel rushed, and they always make sure you're well taken care of.

As for the food, it's a true delight for your taste buds. The flavors are rich, aromatic, and perfectly balanced. Whether you're indulging in a hearty chicken karahi, savoring tender kebabs, or enjoying a perfectly spiced biryani, each dish is prepared with attention to detail and passion. The use of fresh, high-quality ingredients really shines through in every bite.

The restaurant itself is cozy yet spacious, with traditional décor that adds to the authentic experience. It’s an ideal spot for both casual meals and special occasions, making it a great choice for family gatherings or a night out with friends.

Overall, Cafe de khan offers a top-notch dining experience with outstanding food and service. It’s the perfect place to enjoy classic Pakistani dishes with a welcoming touch. Highly...

As a Pakistani, I really want to support Pakistani restaurants, but it was really disappointing experience at Cafe de Khan.

First of all, this place does not have a tandoor, but they have tandoori items on their menu. All tandoori dishes are prepared on the gas grill. The most unbelievable part was that the naans they serve are frozen naans from the company, Deep (the heart shape naans). From the cash register/counter, the customers could see an employee opening the red Deep frozen packets, put some butter on the frozen naans with a brush, and run them through the toaster.

Beef Bihari was thin layers of meat with chewy fat on it. It was not cubes on meat. With every bite, we had to stop and spit out "churbee." At the end of the meal, our extra plate of bones was filled with fatty material.

The tandoori chicken (I mean grilled because they don't have a tandoor) was pink and red on the inside. Had to be sent back for "recook"

The owner is too nice and friendly. I was very pleased with his customer service. But he is cutting a lot of corners. What a disappointing experience it was. There are desi restaurants at every corner of DFW and surrounding areas. This place has a lot of work to do to come up to the...

We visited Cafe de khan in Murphy, TX for the first time today for dinner. We were warmly greeted when we entered. The restaurant has a good decor reminding us of places from back home in Karachi. We ordered Chicken Biryani and Beef Grill platter which included Beef Seekh Kabab, Beef Chapli Kabab, Beef Bihari Kabab, 2 Naans, 2 Puris, 1 Puri Paratha and Kheer for dessert. Customer service 10/10 Chicken Biryani 7.5/10 : Flavorful and with right amount of masala. Seekh Kabab 9/10 : Perfect texture and seasoning. We had a very bad luck with seekh kababs as we find them dry and hard at many places here in DFW. But here we found them soft and juicy. Chapli Kabab 8/10 : good authentic flavor. Crispy from outside and soft from inside. Beef Behari kabab 9/10 : Stole the show. Amazing melt in your mouth texture. Reminded me of Behari kababs from back home. Important point to mention is they used the right way of making behari kababs by using parchas or pasanda cut of the meat and not botis. Naans, puris, puri paratha, raita, salad, imli chutney and kheer all were great and complimented the main BBQ items. P. S. They recently got HMS certification so people who follow that should definitely give them a try.

Real Rating closer to an 8.5/10. Food is clearly marked as Halal. Food: The beef nihari was surprisingly good, some of the best around, a must-have if you visit. A bit on the spicier side, but bursting with flavor, the beef was incredibly tender. The burger was good, but of a lesser quality when compared to other restaurants such as Lime N Dime. The Philly Cheesesteak was fine, nothing to write home about. The fries that came with the meals were pretty good, although much saltier than we would've expected. Service & Ambiance: We were lucky enough to enter during a slow timeframe. It was neat, clean, and inviting. We had the privilege of having direct friendly chats with the owner, who was very hospitable and tended to our every need. We hope these qualities remain consistent when the place is busy as well. There was a surprising amount of thought put into the books, and artwork displayed throughout. If you're familiar with Pakistani history and culture, it's definitely worth taking your time to look at every individual piece. My Order: Beef Nihari [4.5/5] Burgers [3.5/5] Philly Cheesesteak [3.5/5]
