2018 11/24 - Nice trail, by looking at the aerial view beforehand I thought maybe we didn't have to go onto the highway, but I was wrong. I think it will have some highway path for quite some time because they route you around an active train track. It isn't a far distance on the highway, but a bit tricky with kids. You utilize the highway because the shoulder is narrow. HOWEVER, just past the highway path the best visuals of trail ((bridges (under 7 hwy) and old railroad lamp) are there, so if you start at the alternate trailhead - Purvis Road, I suggest you head towards 58 hwy to catch the view, it's...
   Read moreThe scenic trail accessible from this trailhead makes for good mostly flat, mostly firm gravel surface riding. You can get some serious miles in, if you like. Or not. Most of the trail is small gravel, very much like what we'd have called "chat" back in the day, with enough loose gravel in some repaired spots to make it worthwhile to pay attention. Signage correctly warns riders that the shoulders are "soft" and drop off fairly steeply. The trail heading toward Windsor will take you onto local roads VERY briefly before you pick up the continuous off road trail.
