As a big fan of skiing at Tenney, it pains me to write a negative review.
Context: Tenney is one of the few remaining New England ski areas that holds its classic feel, with narrower twisting trails, and slow lifts. I love the ski experience when there's enough natural snow.
This review is for the snow tubing experience on 2/22/2024 during MA school vacation week.
Review: In 1 hour and 22 minutes, we each got 2 rides. Not enough tubes meant 30 people lined up at the top of the poma lift waiting for tubers to ride up the lift and release their tubes to people waiting in the line. I'd be surprised if there were 10 total tubes to go around. 1 tubing lane.
1 tube popped while we were there. The lift stopped because 1 poma wouldn't retract. Maintenance cut the rope at the top. Many of the pomas were already cut off in this manner, lowering lift capacity.
Poor snow tubing operation made for a disappointing visit for my 13 year old son and I and we left after only 2 rides. If we had stayed our full 3 hours block, we could have gotten in only 2-3 rides more.
I love Tenney, and I applaud Mike and the ownership group for tackling so many issues at the area. But they are not ready to service the public for tubing, at least during a...
Read moreThis mountain is really not meant for new skiers. There aren’t any greens. So it goes straight from bunny to intermediate. That would be fine, except I couldn’t even follow the easiest trails since signs were missing. I kept getting lost with my daughter and had to stop on her 2nd run ever going down a real trail aside from bunny trails. We could have handled the easiest trail if the signs were clear, instead we kept getting lead into diamonds. We wound up spending the day inching down the mountain with a ski patrolman. Plus getting from one ski lift to the other is awful. The bunny slopes are way down a paved road and you have to walk it in your ski boots because there is no place to change into your boots by the bunny slopes or even park. This mountain literally killed skiing for my daughter. She never wants to go again, which is sad because she was actually picking it up quickly and having a good time when not incessantly stopped by convoluted trails leading to advanced tracks. The only reason I’m not leaving 1 star is because the staff was very nice and it’s a good price. I seriously do not recommend this mountain for first...
Read moreI seldom give 5 stars to anything, so consider 4 stars to be awsome. I feel as a resident of Manhattan for 23 years, gives me special insight as to how it's done properly in a restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised to find the fare well above my expectations. I ordered an oddball dish of falafel and tziki sauce with assorted trimmings - whereas my friend ordered the prime Rib. I ordered falafel because no one on this side of the Middle East ( not including NYC!) makes it properly- and I missed the experience. It was fantastic! Usually served with Tahini sauce , but great with tziki! My friends prime rib was off the hook !
After a brief conversation with " Mike" a stakeholder- I knew why, these folks are doing whatever it takes to make Tenny Mountain an important part of the community-and their commitment to the restaurant is just part of the plan! Hats off Mike! And good luck with...
