The boardwalk is a fishing pier that parallels the shoreline and provides for a viewpoint to look into the marshes and perhaps view some wildlife. And then there's the observation tower, a four story wooden tower. Climb the steps (look out for splinters) and from the top, you can see for miles around the Battery Creek and the mouth of the Beaufort River. Completely free and there was no one else on the boardwalk when I visited in mid-March.

Absolutely stunning view!! Beautifully built Boardwalk with a 4 story tower for elevated views. I saw a few people getting some fishing in and plenty of people walking and jogging through. It's definitely a place for sunrise and sunset viewing, and it's recommended for the whole family (yes, dog included). Also, don't forget to get the amazing photo of MCRD Parris Island. The water tower is the landmark.

We love the sands! Great place to find sharks teeth and the kids love walking the boardwalk and climbing the observatory. Did we mention the sharks teeth?! Always a ton to find! I know shark tooth Fairy has events here, but we've never been to one. The teeth we find are small and natural to the area, unlike the ones the STF brings! Great place! (This is about an hours worth of sharking!)

A marshfront boardwalk and observation tower overlooking the confluence of Battery Creek, Beaufort River, and Port Royal Sound. There is a nice view of Parris Island across the river and marsh. Many people fish and cast for shrimp off the boardwalk but they aren't plentiful in this area; however you may have good luck chicken necking for blue Crabs in the summer and fall. This was built on an old dredge spoil area and if you look along the waters edge you may find some sharks teeth. There is also a public boat ramp here and many locals use the area...

This island has a wonderful view, very nice people and a somewhat nice place to visit if...u don't mind the very slow bumper to bumper traffic going to the island and the fact that u will find it very hard to find a park. And if u do manage to find a park on the side of the road, u will need to find the pay station connected to where u are parked or get ready to pay a nice parking ticket. Overall this is a beautiful place. We went on the weekend. Maybe the week days would have...

This is a long wooden pier you can fish/crab off/under the small pavilion or along the pier and has always been a great place to go with smaller children or just alone. You get to meet so many people and animals walking back and forth to the wooden observation tower. You will see dolphins, fish, crabs, birds, hear Parris Island doing drills, enjoy a festival or two, hunt for shark teeth at the sands "beach" next to it. Best part it is always free and...
