We love Sands beach. It’s more quiet and calm. Nice boardwalk across the ocean and lookout up about 4 stories above the water. The sand is full of oyster shells if you are a collector. Lots of mini crabs. The water is warm and you can sit right in the sand until tide comes up. Pull up parking right next to the water with their new restored parking.

A friend suggested checking this beach out to look for shark teeth and it’s quickly become my new obsession. It’s clean, has plenty of trash cans and ample parking and is usually filled with families looking for teeth or fishing. Three people have told me they’ve found megalodon teeth in the parking lot. Go at low tide and keep your eyes peeled!

The giant holes on the drive in are ridiculous! It would be nice if they had some sort of hose to wash off your feet before getting back inside your vehicle like other beaches, but its a beach I expect some sand. Beware of oyster shells. Wear shoes. I cut my foot twice, because I apparently didn't learn the first time.

It's a decent beach to relax on, and there were several people with dogs (so dog friendly). Parking is convenient and close.

I didn't realize before going that the sand was so choppy... as in, tons of sea shell fragments. It's not so bad that it hurts your feet, but you can't build sandcastles or anything like that.

The water is dark. We opted not to go in past a foot because you can't see anything.

The biggest upside though, is that we saw tons of dolphins about 100 yards from the shore. That was pretty amazing.

So I think it's a fine spot for sunbathing and playing with your dog, but not for swimming or playing...

I’ve never found shark teeth in my life but I found over 20 here!! We came here twice during our week in Beaufort. Thousands of fiddler crabs, saw 10 dolphins, cranes, turtles and a stingray! Great for shells. Once the tide lowers, you’ll step in a nasty black clay and likely some sharp oysters so watch your step. Overall very nice and lots of...
