I am writing a review since I know the SNJB review reps watching like clockwork. I must say the phone reps are nice when ones voice is no longer an indoor voice, but when I called SNJB the first time I was told about 105.10 owed to MRS (collections agency that you can transfer to within their system but both verified it). I did a repeat back and acknowledgement of said amount and asked was that all I owed this tolling company. Of course it was a yes. That's 2 tolls that had resulted on a hold on my dmv registration. I was clear in asking was that ALL TWICE and wrote everything down as we spoke on the phone. Fast forward 1 month and some days to when I called back to pay it, MRS informed me of a figure over $1000 (11 old as hell tolls). Immediately, I called back to SNJB and spoke with PAM (collections) saying the same thing. How confused to go back and call again to talk to SNJB (vs MRS or PAM the same phone number mind you). This is where the anger comes in. The first time I called them, the SNJB rep neglected to tell me about the PAM collections bill and neither did MRS on the first call (which MRS could conveniently see on my second call to them...hmmm). I pay it because there is no time to dispute someone driving my car through toll roads while I was away years ago so I gotta sue them or just look away. And there are no settlement offers for these loan shark type of fees.
To the people that want to write a response after everybody's post like it is going to change things....it's insulting... for you have no sympathy in your tone at all. Combing through their mess and putting it in a response of their review of you for all to see regardless of what they wrote...come on. With the amount of money paid in tolls with fees...nobody wants to hear back from you ever and the bad reviews are gonna tip the scale; afterall, this is not a restaurant review. There is no level playing field here for there are no settlement offers on some of the fees. Simply say...please call or or email us is all you should say to defend privately. Trust half of us ain't calling you back. We are going to have to pay it regardless if we want to drive legally. Don't look into my account because I fine tooth combed multiple years with your rep last week with a repeat and acknowledgement. Thank you Delvita and friends!!! BTW I already have an ezpass. I am here to review your organization without you responding to me period. Just...
Read moreThis has got to be the most idiotic tolling system ever. My boyfriend and I went over this bridge back in January and didn't notice that this was the toll that the signs were talking about since we weren't familiar with the area. We only noticed that it was a toll after the flash went off due to the camera taking a picture of our license plate. After we saw the flash there was nothing, no booth, no place to throw change in so we were confused. Immediately we looked up where we were and where the toll was (we didn't care that there was a toll) and after about a half hour of searching we finally found the site for the toll... Unless you have an Ezpass you have to wait 30 days to receive your toll ticket. We were driving my boyfriends car and he is in the military so immediately we tried calling and emailing to find out how that was going to work since he doesn't live at the same place that's listed in the DMV. It was a weekend so obviously there was no answer because they're closed so we tried emailing so at least they knew what our situation was. The email that was given on the site (we directly copied and pasted and made sure there was no random spacing) came back as invalid. For the rest of that week we tried to contact them but neither of us got out of work in time for business hours to call... so we waited... The mailing address listed under the DMV for his car is still his parents address. Finally, 2 MONTHS later 3/24/2017 we just got the toll ticket. According to the ticket we have less than a week to pay 5$ (no big deal since we did a lot of digging into how to pay for this once we get it and found out that we could pay for it online). For those who don't know they went through a toll or how to pay for this other than via mail they are screwed. How do you expect anyone in military to pay this toll if they get deployed, have training or something else that prevents them from any communication, internet access or access to even receiving mail right away because they won't be home for at least a week? If it took a month for anyone to even notice that someone went through this toll and another month to even mail something how do you expect people to pay something on time if they didn't even receive the ticket in the mail until after...
Read moreI'm an out of state driver who crossed once in November 2015. When I've used other Pay by Plate tolls in other states, you can pay within 24-48 hours online by typing your plate number...."Pay by Plate" after all.
Not this one. You need to wait for WEEKS if not MONTHS for an account to be created for you. Then they insist on mailing you an invoice with a unique invoice number that must be input to pay the toll. No way to use your plate number and date to pay your one time toll, and I have no use or need for an account with no intention of ever using the bridge again.
My problem: I travel almost nonstop and am rarely home to get mail. But as others have explained, neglect to pay them immediately and you're slammed with fees, collections and threats of DMV penalties.
Wanting none of that, I initiated the process of trying to pay the $4 or $5 toll the day I crossed, on November 23, 2015. I made contact by phone and email. The administrativia was explained to me as if I care why they're so disorganized. I immediately suspected it was intentionally difficult to pay the tolls because they make a fortune in late fees. Reading other reviews confirms my suspicion.
So I opened a BBB Complaint. BBB was familiar with these folks and asked me to contact someone at SNJB at extension 201 prior to proceeding with my complaint. I did contact them but there was no account created or invoice generated so they had no way to collect my money. I asked if I could just mail them cash or a check and they said no, but to please call back.
So I did call back every week. Finally on December 28 (more than 1 month later) I was finally successful in paying my toll because by the person was able to find an account and invoice.
The level of effort needed to pay them less than I spend on a cup of coffee is obscene. Even now, 6 years later, the SNJB still has no way to Pay By Plate and instead relies on US Mail and proprietary account &...
