Fantastically hidden away from I-464 off of Poindexter Street. I've lived in Chesapeake for 20 years now and just stumbled upon this little park on the Elizabeth River two weeks ago! It's snuggled right under the Jordan Bridge and is relatively new with great facilities, shelters, fishing pier, and lots of snacks in the ranger's station. Very clean and modern bathrooms. Oh, BTW, if you catch a fish, DON'T EAT IT! THROW IT BACK! The river is not as clean as it should be, but catch and release is worth every minute of fun with the family! Read moreIt has 24/7 dock landing or launch. Has picnic tables under a large canopy or rooftop and I think it also has around 6 camping grills throughout the grounds. Areas for fishing and all around area for children to play and watch out over the waterway. Also has a small convenience store. Has ample parking for visitors and also for boat trailers left hooked up to vehicles. All around great place to have get together with friends and or family. It's also wheelchair accessible. Very nice grounds. Love this little park. I bring my friends that don't know about it and they love it also. Police come and roam the area from time to time so I think that it's a safe place to be attending. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS...
Read moreWe came here to fish on Father's Day as we required wheelchair access to the fishing pier. It was awesome! The views of the Jordan Bridge are spectacular! They have educational monuments around the park area explaining different pieces they used in building the Jordan Bridge, very cool. There is a bait shop and nice, clean bathrooms. After setting the Dads up at the fishing spot, I took the kids to play at the park! We could see all the river traffic and my kids enjoyed watching the barges and tugboat as much as they enjoyed the park equipment. They even have a work out type area separate from the playground. This is a nice place to spend the afternoon outside fishing...
