I go on outings with my 90 year old mom. She uses a walker and can handle the brief walk on the boardwalk to sit and enjoy the view. There are gourd-shaped nests created by the Kitsap Audubon group attached to the top of pilings. Purple Martins, a type of Swallow, were feeding there young in the nests and it was lovely to watch and listen. This was 5pm in August and they were really active. Apparently they migrate for the winter.
On other visits we've seen seals. There are often paddle boarders, kayakers and boats in a bookend of marinas coming and going. It's our go to place if we dont want to drive far. Theres a handicapped parking spot.
There are benches, a picnic table or two and a dock and areas to launch small boats that can be carried to the dock or beach. There's even a mini white sand beach made from crushed oyster shells.
