The trail is marked moderate, which is probably most true for ratings - i.e. it is NOT easy! There are portions of the hike that you have to climb fairly step rocks or terrain that are not steps by any means and could be loose rocks or (if wet) could be slippery. If you are a hiker and hike more than a couple times per year, the trail will be very doable. There are some of the most beautiful rock ledges, small bridges, waterfall (in season), and cave sights (mostly all closed off, but you can still see into them and enjoy it). This is probably the 2nd busiest and most popular walking trail in the park (behind Yellow Rock) and is WELL WORTH you attempting it. Would not recommend for very small children and may be difficult for carrying a child. Would not recommend for anyone needing a cane or assistance. Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves nature and adventure. It's 1.5 miles, so it's a one hourish hike if you stop and look at stuff. Be mindful of signs, there are two trailheads and you'll want to remember where you came in. The two are not too far from each other if you do happen to walk out at the wrong one, you just walk up the road a little (less than .25 miles) and you're at the other trailhead... no need to double back into the trail to...
Read morePoorly mapped trail. There is no actual real directions. Take a picture and load google maps to ensure you stay on the trail you intend to be on. Views was good. We went too late in the season to actually see the water fall. Viewed some of the caves but this hike was not that enjoyable due to the trail not being clearly marked with destinations of where the trail directions takes you. Overall it was a stressful hike when it was 115 and all I wanted to do was to find my way back to the car and which trail was the correct one. Ugh! Make sure you are prepared for this one. It seems like it is an easy in and out but is not. Some of it can get pretty steep, but overall...
Read moreThe official term in description of this trail is described as having MODERATE difficulty, a good measure for those suffering the delusion of invincibility is this: if you can walk 2-3 miles while doing around 30-40 squats this can feel really easy.
A warning to fat people with a great sense of adventure and courage surpassing your physical abilities: Take Lots of water, go slowly, wear comfortable but tuff non slip boots, and last but not least bring a friend/friends strong enough to carry you out of there if your will power diminishes.
God Bless you...
