YOU MUST SEE THIS BEACH. (The color of these photos (unedited) donโt do this beach justice.) We are visiting this beach in late April around noon. Clear sunny day. Low wind. Weโve been to Cancun, Isla Mujeres, Columbia, Aruba, Curaรงao, St. Lucia, Florida, Carracas beach in Vieques and Flamenco beach in Culebra. Nothing compares to Sun Bay Beach in Vieques. The water was calm and unlike anything we have seen before. Itโs was clear and a nice teal blue. You could see the fish swimming from how clear it is. This view was a relaxing, calm water, picture, instagram, tik tok, social media post worthy beach 1000%. It wasnโt busy. We heard carracas beach was really nice. On a whim we decided to go to Sun Bay. It was the best decision. You have to at least see this beach. A note, there was a small inlet on the west side of the beach that we could see a ways a way very teal and light blue. Didnโt go but would love too next time. This is somewhere we would stay for certain if there was a resort. Volley ball court towards the end...
ย ย ย Read moreWe visited on June 20th and had a great time. We stopped at several beaches on the southern part of Vieques and Sun Bay beach was the only one not completely covered in seaweed. It wasn't quite as pristine as some of the previous photos and it needs a clean up but it was still beautiful and useable. The water wasn't as clear as other pictures show, but that may be attributed to the bigger currents we were experiencing that day. We stayed at the beach for several hours and I think there was only 2 other families spread out across the beach. I think there was a bathroom, although it wasn't super close to the beach. When you enter through the gate you'll see an old parking lot - no-one was parked there. Everyone was parked literally on the beach. Side note, when we left around 5pm, there was at least 40 or so horses in the parking lot which was very cool. While I think La plata and la Chiva may be better beaches, until the seaweed is cleaned up this is...
ย ย ย Read moreThe beach looks pretty nice, I'll give it that. Light blue/green waters, almost white sand, beautiful coconut palm trees that provide shade to escape the heat, adorable horses grazing in the grass nearby. There are plenty of disadvantages to this beach, though. First of all, the bees. So many of them! I got stung 3 times IN THE WATER! Secondly, the swimming experience isn't the best. The current is VERY strong in some areas and VERY Dangerous. You also can't swim more than 5 feet deep because you are blocked by a jungle of seaweed. Lastly, the restrooms...are absolutely disgusting. Honestly, the worst I've ever seen. Probably are never cleaned. Also, no soap, toilet paper or paper towels. Although there are some difficulties, the beauty of this beach makes...
