The John Wood mansion is such a wonderful asset to the Quincy community. It’s such a good time being able to go in word about the history of our town and it’s great that they have put in the effort to preserve the roots of the community. I would definitely suggest if you don’t have something going on to swing by the John Wood mansion and check it out.

Definitely worth the visit. 4 buildings to tour. Our tourguide was very knowledgeable and provided a great experience. Also, extremely patient with children!

I strongly recommend visiting the John Wood Mansion in Quincy, IL. John Wood, the founder of Quincy and a three-time Mayor, served as Lieutenant Governor and later became Governor of Illinois after the death of Governor Bissell in 1860. The interior of the house is remarkable, featuring furniture from the Wood family and other prominent figures in the town's history.

My tour guide, Rich, was exceptionally knowledgeable and passionate...

Tried to take a tour. Unable to self-tour and are required to have a guide with you. Sign on mansion directs you to the visitors center. Walked in there and nobody acknowledged us, offered information or assisted us. Zero signage about the process to take a tour. We walked out after about 10 minutes along with another couple. Super...
