I was amazed when I got to the top of the bluff. Right from my parking spot I could see for miles. To be honest, I felt a little sick being up so high at first. It took a little getting used to, looking down upon all of Red Wing, with cars like little ants driving around down below. I chuckled when another vehicle began to pull up into a parking spot, exclaimed loudly in horror at the height, then backed up and drove away. If you have a great fear of heights, this might not be the best park for you. If you LOVE an incredible view, however, this park will amaze you. I did take a short walk around the top areas, checking out the view from every side. I loved seeing the residential areas, the river valley, other distant bluffs, downtown Redwing, and an abundance of wild birds. I noticed handicap parking, RV or large vehicle parking (if your vehicle can make it up the hill!), frisbee golf, a large amount of seating, and educational signs. I can’t wait to come back again. I think this will be an amazing park to explore with my kids and friends.

During a winter visit to Memorial Park, we discovered that the main gates were closed for the season. This led us to start our hike from the bottom, entering through a trail adjacent to residential streets. It felt like we were embarking on a unique, off-the-beaten-path adventure! The trails, thrillingly close to the cliffs, offered a mix of excitement and challenge. Not having proper hiking shoes made keeping pace with the swift locals a bit tricky, but it was all part of the fun and authentic park experience. The highlight, without a doubt, was the view from the top of the park. The panoramic scenery was absolutely breathtaking, making every step of the hike worthwhile. It was a peaceful, beautiful reminder of nature's wonders. Memorial Park is a fantastic destination, especially for those who enjoy a bit of adventure. A friendly tip: wear comfortable hiking shoes to fully enjoy the trails and the splendid views!

This park has lots to offer. My GPS took me to the street across from the stairs up to the park, instead of to the parking lot lol. Which was fine. The views are really nice. If you don't want to hike Barn Bluff you can come here for similar views. The quarry rock is neat too. Reminds me of back home in Ohio. If you live here you can have some pretty killer picnics and parties. They have fire pits and picnic tables with awesome views. A few small trails. Disc golf course too. I ended up driving to the parking lot on the top and the road is pretty narrow and curvy, so pay attention.

Review is for Disc Golf Course Times Played: 2+

Pros: Has an amazing scenic view of Red Wing most of the way around the course and a cool looking castle near the center. Baskets are in great shape. Tee signs show you the layout of each hole and point you in the direction of your next hole. The flow of the course nicely loops around to the beginning. The course is out in the open so you don't have to worry about loosing your disk in foliage. Looks like they cut the fair way grass (Well maintained) Has plenty of picnic tables to eat at. Not crowded before April, since the gate to the road is closed until then. Hosts a tournament every august. Restrooms are available here.

Cons: Tee pads are gravel and have divots from previous use. Only trash bins are at the beginning of the course There was a good amount off trash on the course. Not a lot of parking.

Other Thoughts: Over all this is a pretty decent course. The sight up there takes your breath away and the castle in the middle of the course is pretty cool. Over all the course is pretty well maintained and I had a great experience. If you go before April, you'll need to walk about a mile up hill to access this course, but it's worth it. If you are ever in Red Wing I would recommend stopping by at...
