This needs to be said... This new plastic, static-filled, rubbery mess is not "Kids Kingdom". This is more like "Kids Village" there is nothing remotely kingdom-like here. They just slapped this playground together like some cheap off-brand LEGO set. Yes, it's for the kids I understand that, but this is just abysmal.
It says this playground has an age group of 5-12. When I was 12, I remember coming here and it being a REAL KINGDOM. I remember running along this wooden bridge that wobbled and swung, climbing to the top of the lookout tower touching the treeline, and who can forget the giant hidden tire swing that connected all these secret tunnels together?
This new place you can expect to build up static and get shocked (BAD), get friction burns from the slides and having your kids toes getting caught in the little holes they have on the walking platforms.
The old one was wooden and was most likely rotting from the inside, but if the city can change the roads and put in bike lakes nobody wanted and that's hardly ever used, they can make a better "Kids KINGDOM" for the youth here. This is just pathetic. My kid gets bored after 30 minutes of playing.
The charm is gone. They have remnants of the old helicopter and plane but they're nailed to a gate as a big middle finger to the older generation who factually had a kingdom they could go to and play on.
But don't let the size discourage you from bringing your little one. They have one decent slide that's pretty steep everyone seems to love and have swings and a cool zip-line.
I found some old pictures so you can compare it to...
Read moreKIDS GO BANANAS! My boyfriend's daughter had her 7th birthday here and all the kids had a blast. The park design is beyond your typical slides and standard swings. There are zip line like swings the kids loved to jump on like Indiana Jones, a tire swing that can hold 3 kids, there are swings that have a sturdy plastic harness that comes down over the shoulders and easily locks into place for younger kids, monkey bars, and a swirling metal cage kids can climb up into and spin around while standing (only one kid can fit in at a time, no kid fell out on us so the design is great). There are slides and your standard swings (I did not see those standard swings seats for babies) as well as a small rock climbing rock and your regular jungle gyms. There is also bongo drums to beat on in different sizes and a train structure the kids climbed all over. There is plenty of grass and space to run around too. I really appreciate the abundant benches and tables positioned around the playground so when not playing with the kids ourselves we can sit with a clear view of the youngsters (great for helicopter parents that attempt to give their kids some freedom too...ahem us). There is also a covered area with tables and BBQ grills. The bathrooms have plenty of stalls but I would recommend bringing your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer or hand soap. Toilet paper was dwindling down and it was scary (we went on Easter Sunday) and there was no soap but luckily we had...
Read moreI love the new playground at kids kingdom minus a few safety issues that were overlooked. There is a segment of iron fencing where small children can easily get out and into the water exhibit or out into the main portion of the park and away from their parents which was a big concern for us because my littles liked to explore and escape. The blue turf is very sloped in a few areas and the sudden drop causes children to tumble quite easily. The playground has sawdust chips which cause splinters so make sure to check hands and feet for splinters after play. If it wasn't for the safety issues and the smell emanating from the bathrooms I would give this park a 5 star. But God the bathrooms smell so darn awful I can't help but knock a star for it. I've been there quite a few times and it never improves. Maybe it's a septic system style? Idk but its dreadful. If you can avoid the bathroom do but otherwise its a great park and wonderful playground for...
