This is such a marvelous park to go to. You can do so much here and the beauty is stunning to say the least. If you enjoy walking or jogging this is the perfect place to do it. There are different walking trails to take, each path lined with alluring foliage that is a sight to see. There's a beautiful little lake that you can walk around that glistens in the sun during the day. There's multiple animals you might catch a glimpse of while you're there, but make sure when you're looking for animals and smelling the flowers you watch for snakes. My personal favorite part of San Rafael is the sunflower garden which is something you have to see for yourself. This park is perfect for walking, walking your dog, and especially for taking pictures. Along with the walking trails, there is also a little farm area that may have chickens, sheep, and even horses. It depends on what season you visit the park in though, around the end of summer you can't see as many animals at the barn. Overall, this is one of the best parks I have ever been to, and I've been all across the country. If you have little children, they can be entertained at the dinosaur playground which has dinosaur themed playground equipment. If you're ever in the area of Reno, Rancho San Rafael is a perfect place to stop...
Read moreThis was our first time to the park. I like that there was a drinking fountain for dogs but there was only one in the park, that we seen. This park has a large space for dogs to run and almost every dog was friendly and owners were polite. Some owners did not pick up after their pet. All in all my dog was happy with his play time and we were happy with the day. Park looked beautiful with the trees turning different colors and losing their leaves. This is by far my favorite park in Reno. The trails are pretty good for hiking since they go up and down and weave throughout the park. You get to see lots of lizards and bunnies along the way and there are a lot of nice little spots to stop and rest. You aren't supposed to bring pets or ride bikes on the Arboretum side but a lot of rude people do which is annoying, but not enough to make me stop going, and the park is kept up very well. They do a lot of cool events but I like to go when it isn't as busy, it's a great way to relax but get a little exercise at...
Read moreLove this place. Great for hikers, joggers, dog people, picnics (tons of tables and grills spread throughout) and exceptional amounts of open grass space for outdoor activities. The park is very clean and maintained and has nearby scenic walking paths as well as differing levels of hiking trails. It as an enormous and beautiful dog park covered with grass and with a dog water drinking fountain. Although the space it isn't completely closed in because there are 3 entrance gates kept wide open, so be careful with dogs who don't have good recall. Also has the Wilbur D. May Center and Museum there with exhibits that are always changing and lots of community events that take place. There are also rentable facilities like picnic pavillions, gazebos, well kept historical buildings and gardens for special events or family outings that are much more scenic, beautiful and affordable than newer, more common venues. Very ample parking...
