I do not recommend this tour to anyone. It is by far the worst duck tour we have ever been on.
The tour is very short. Most of the time is spent stuck in traffic. We were delayed 15 minutes getting on to the water because a boater was loading up and blocking the ramp. We spent maybe 10 minutes on the water, if that. There was really nothing to see anyway.
Here is a summary of the tour. On land they pointed out married man's way, a street known for brothels a century ago. We were told to look up for eagles, but you couldn't see through the the cloudy screened roof. We didn't see any anyway. On water, there are four seals sunbathing and a boat wrecked against the seawall. The captain did not spin the boat around for both sides to get a peek at either. That sums up the tour.
My wife and I had the extra privilege of being forced to sit in the front handicap row. We asked if we could take a later tour to have seats with a view. We were told your tickets have this time and you must take this tour and there were plenty of seats. After we were on board, we heard the same person talking to staff that there were many people that boarded the duck with the incorrect time on their tickets. This contradicted what we were just told. It was very disappointing that we were lied to and the seats we were forced to sit in. As you can see from the attached pictures we had a terrible view. Our view was the back of the driver's chair. We had a partial view to the left. To our right was the guide. He was 90° to our right and beyond him was a stair ladder used to get on the duck. So there was no view to the right. Our guide, angel, was talking to everyone except us. He never acknowledged us. He held up pictures to the people, but since he was behind us we didn't get to see them nor did he bother to try showing to us. It felt like we were not included in the store.
We spoke up before the tour, and were denied. We spoke up during the tour, and we were denied. We asked for a partial refund after the tour at the tour ticket counter and was denied. The young kids working at ticket counter didn't seem to care at all, even after seeing video of where we were told to sit and our obstructed view. Our cruise ship try to reach out to them to get a partial refund and they were also denied.
I have never not tipped after a tour, at least until this time.
Again I would not recommend this tour to anyone. We have been on many duck tours before, they all had something interesting to show. This one does not. Little kids would find it boring adults equally so. It was a regrettable waste of money. I cannot say anything positive about this tour.
The duck tour guide taught us more about Texas and his girlfriend than about Ketchikan. We got more insight about Ketchikan from our shuttle driver from the cruise port to the center of town.
The lumberjack show or the deadliest catch tour are better options.
Carnival Legend, May 26th 2025 sailing. Tour was on June 1st, 11:30 tour time.
That was a nonsense provided by the tour group. Rather than acknowledge that not every seat has a good view (specifically the left first row), it appears you choose to promote your business and suggested we received the same tour as everyone else.
You don't typically receive complaints about the front row/handicap seating? The left front row are not good seats and is reason to complain. Kindly look at the pictures and video. There is no view forward or to the right, and obstructed view to the left unless looking 90 degrees. Before boarding, we asked if we could be on the next duck and were denied the option to do so. Once onboard, we could overhear the ticket taker and the driver talking about those on the duck about so many others were on the duck with other times on their tickets. Clearly, we were lied to about "your ticket tour time is your tour time." The stairs were already closed and there was no escape.
Again, the shuttle bus from the secondary cruise ship dock was more informative about Ketchikan than...

Stacey’s warm personality and genuine interest in ensuring we had a great time added a special touch to the tour.
Miguel, our driver, expertly navigated the unique amphibious vehicle, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable ride both on land and water. His driving skills were top-notch, and he provided a sense of safety and comfort throughout the tour.
A delightful surprise was learning about Stacey and Miguel’s backgrounds. Stacey, hailing from Texas, and Miguel, originally from Puerto Rico, brought a wonderful mix of cultures to the tour. They both sported fabulous cowboy boots, adding a charming and personal touch to their appearance. Their stories of coming to Alaska for the summer and their shared love for adventure added a deeper connection to the experience.
Together, Stacey and Miguel created a tour that was not only informative but also incredibly fun and memorable. They went above and beyond to ensure everyone on board had a fantastic time, pointing out hidden gems and offering insider tips for making the most of our visit to Ketchikan.

Read moreHaving lost a van tour because the driver canceled owing to street blockages for the 4th July parade, we cast around for a solution. The Duck Tour had been our first choice, but appeared to be sold out online. Happily, five seats for family were available and the tour was a great choice. The streets reopened in time, and we had the full ninety minutes with enthusiastic commentary from both guide and driver. We were still glad we had walked the streets for a couple of hours beforehand, the only way to see the historic brothel houses of the Creek neighborhood, plus the salmon ladder creek. The many historical poster boards were a good way to absorb history. The Duck Tour pressed its way through crowded streets, and the guide worked diligently to bring to life the economy, history and wildlife (including Bald Eagle sitting atop a mast in the port). The Duck freewheeled down the ramp to splashdown, and being a modern-design Duck it seemed to handle better than the restored 1940s Ducks we had experienced in Boston. The Harbor and channel tour was fun, and we returned up the ramp on dual power (propeller and wheels) for a kelp check (huge stalk was caught under the boat, then handed to us to feel it) to drive the streets. It's hard to keep audience attention when the streets are crowded and a cruise port is unattractive, but our guide and driver did a great job with factoids and humour. (I did the job myself as a 19 year old courier in France, so I appreciate it well.) The whole family enjoyed the tour and it even worked for our 12 month old, who could be passed around when she got fussy during the 90 minutes. Good value for...
