Years ago I fished this place and had a wonderful time with my kids and wife. People keep saying it's a great fishing spot to this day and when you look for places to fish in Richmond Indiana this place always pops up, HOWEVER! There is a 'NO FISHING' sign up now and I would rather not get fined hundreds of dollars or lose my fishing license trying to illegally fish there based on reviews on the internet! There are posted signs regarding problems with indecency, signs prohibiting feeding the birds, and warnings not to drop off animals of any kind. All of this withstanding there are a LOT of reviews where people state that they have a great time taking a bag of bread and feeding the birds (prohibited) and that it's a great fishing spot and has been for years (prohibited)! One year (over ten years ago as I have lived in Richmond for 27 years now) I saw medical waste from Reid Hospital (the old Reid) in the water and I could imagine pollution could be a primary reason for prohibiting fishing, but I would think that swimming would be completely out of the question if the water was too polluted to fish. SO! IS Springwood park a good place to fish? NO! It's prohibited! Should people bring bags of bread to feed the birds? NO! It's prohibited! I wish they would take down that stupid 'NO FISHING' sign, restock the place, and let it be what it was before! It WAS a good fishing spot where you could let your kids play at the park and be around nature while you fish with them and have fun. Now it kind of sucks and is being touted as a great fishing spot when it's a NO...
Read moreI went to Springwood and sat because my car started to overheat as I was passing thru so I was letting it cool down. The park had a lot of litter in the area I was in, but I did pick it up because I was killin' time waiting on my car to cool down. I had to use the restroom and it was a disturbing trip with bees flying around while I was using it. A family came and the kids played seemed to enjoy playing and running on the playground -all in all it was a rather nice and peaceful visit(even though I probably wouldn't of stopped if I wasn't having...
Read moreMy family and I love coming to the playground at Springwood Park! It is located in a beautiful and somewhat secluded location which means that foot traffic is a bit lower than most parks. The only drawback is the lack of facilities nearby. If you need to use the restroom, there is one porta potty, and it is not regularly maintained. There is plenty of things to do here for everyone including a pond for fishing, trails for hiking, volleyball courts to play on, and...
