Beautiful, as close to the river as you can get. Water crystal clear, great for kids, wheelchair accesable. Southern end closed at bridge currently. Paved, but abundant cracks.(that and cloosed bridge only reason 4 star)

This is a beautiful, very well-maintained, paved trail running through the heart of Roanoke. Total out and back is approximately 21 miles.

Very scenic and relaxing area. Trail goes for a while. There is children’s play area as well as bench along the path.

One my favorite things about Roanoke is the Roanoke River Greenway. It is perfect for cyclist, runners, families out for a stroll, walking your dogs, and to just get away for a moment to yourself in nature . It stretches from northeast Roanoke all the way to Salem. It is always well maintained and showcases some beautiful areas in Roanoke, including access to the Mill Mt Star, Carillion Hospital, Blue Cow Ice Cream, Wasena Tap Room and much more, as well as creeks and rivers. I use it primarily for long runs and time with my daughters. There are many places with access and parking. Great job to the park who keeps it going...

My intention was to ride the entire greenway from Vinton to glenvar. I parked near the RMH. I had ridden the Vinton section before so I headed west toward Salem. I was only able to go about 3 miles until I reached the construction and there is no way around it that I saw. The bathrooms at the park along the street where I parked are nasty. Once all the construction is done and signage is better it will be great but for now is a very limited...

I love the Greenway, but challenged by cyclists going too fast and seems like walkers are an imposition. Have seen a number of close calls. (Almost a part of them a time or two). Most announce or use a bell; thank you! Dogs off leash on occasion. Most pet parents have them on leash so thank you too! Other than those two...
