Mill Mountain Discovery Center — Attraction in Roanoke

The Discovery Center is such a hidden gem! There’s so much cool stuff to explore, both inside and out. My kids especially loved the sand area where they could make animal footprints, they could have stayed there all day! The inside of the center has a really fun and educational atmosphere, with interactive displays and nature-themed exhibits that kept everyone engaged. We're always looking for educational fun, so it was a huge bonus that we could be here for free! I remembered the bee exhibit from years before so I wanted to show my kiddo that. Even though the bee exhibit was gone, we found other things to do that she enjoyed! The print rubs on the floor, matching birds game, hands-on areas, and lots of chances to read about different species gave us indoor fun and learning opportunities. The Discovery center is pretty small and geared towards children. Nice, though. And have toilets as you walk in. I did get a great Blue ridge parkway brochure though and the employee at the desk was friendly and informative.

I was there at 11:20 AM and they were open. The signs there did say they open at noon so I guess sometimes they just open early.
