Furnace is very close to the road. There are a few pulloffs, for this and for the Freedom Falls, and you walk down a small but slightly steep embankment to the furnace. Structure is made of large stone blocks, and nestled by the stream in a very picturesque fashion. As far as furnaces go, this one is par for the course as far as the exterior state is concerned. However, the inside hasn't been completely gutted like other furnaces, which makes this one a bit unique. Not perfect, not restored, but better than many others. There are also surviving portions of what I believe was a mill race (shown in photographs). The history of the furnace is provided by a sign down by the tunnel.
