Trailhead is clearly marked and cleaned out after the tornadoes. Trail is well marked. The lake overlook was a nice resting point. A moderate trail for a half day/whole day hike depending on how much you do. Much more challenging hiking into the campsites with equipment. Multiple ascents and descents. None of the campsites have easy access to water from the site but there is lake access about a quarter mile from campsite 3. No camping or fires in that area. Beware of seed ticks and flying bugs, especially on the Huckleberry loop portion. There is no water access on the west side...
Read moreThis is a great trail. We walked clock wise on the long trail. Got us to just over 9 miles, because we took the option to go down by the water when we were passing the camp grounds.
Trail is narrow in some spots, but nothing to dangerous. Towards the end (or beginning if you go counter clockwise) there is a beautiful overlook, with benches.
If you want a short 2 mile hike to just sit at the overlook it will be an easy trail, but slight incline on the return.
