Rutland State Park — Attraction in Rutland

It was very confusing finding the legitimate entrance to the park, and there's many areas to turn to stop. Google maps, at one point, wanted me to drive down an unused, unplowed road through the woods when I missed a turn. Then they wanted me to go down a blocked road when I took the "correct turn." I eventually settled on a dirt parking lot with a Portapotty. Got my car pretty dirty drifting through some mud and snow into my spot. They should pave it eventually.

Took like a 4 mile hike custom loop. It was mostly flat where I walked. There was a long dirt road with interconnecting roads later. Glad I had a navigation app or it would be easy to forget where my car was later or get lost looping back. I enjoyed the fresh air and...

Gorgeous, lovely, tranquil, peaceful. Lovely trail around the pond, picnic tables scattered over varied locations throughout the park. The trail connects to the rail trail for longer walks. It's a heavenly place. Very well maintained and clean everywhere. PLUS: I called the number on a Sunday to report a fallen limb that's blocking the trail. In this age of exasperating lengthy machine auto replies, my call was answered right away by a receptive and responsive human being. WOW. So clean, restrooms not far from the beach and super clean. Plenty of picnic tables and grills, charcoal grills make sure to bring aluminum foil or chef copper mat to cook on. So nice and relaxing, kids can play in the sand, swimming is great, 2 attentive lifeguards and park staff are friendly & helpful. Lots of trash receptacles so no excuse for not picking up.
