We had an absolutely wonderful day outing at Odiorne State Park! The park's natural beauty is breathtaking, with a perfect blend of coastal scenery, lush forests, and well-maintained trails. We started our visit with a scenic walk along the rocky shoreline, where we enjoyed stunning views of the ocean and the nearby Isles of Shoals. The tide pools were a delight to explore, especially for the kids, who were fascinated by the marine life.
The park also offers an impressive network of trails, which are well-marked and cater to all levels of hikers. We appreciated the diversity of the landscape, from the serene wooded paths to the open grassy areas, which provided a perfect spot for our picnic. The historical aspects of the park, including the old military fortifications, added an intriguing layer to our adventure.
One of the highlights was the Seacoast Science Center, located within the park. It was both educational and entertaining, with engaging exhibits on marine biology and local history. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience even more enriching.
Facilities at Odiorne State Park are excellent, with clean restrooms, ample parking, and picnic areas equipped with tables and grills. The park's layout is well thought out, ensuring that even on a busy day, it never feels overcrowded.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been visiting since I was a kid. Either I played on the playground, explored the rocks at low tide looking for life forms, ate at picnics, rode my bike or swam in the beach šļø next to the park, though I always found it to rocky (Yo Adrian!). I even partied there as a teenager. I've brought my kids here for walks and the playground. Fee is low for getting in, but, you have to do it online. You can combine a trip to the Seacoast Science Center and parking admission. I've had no problems with phone reception at the park. The park has huge long trails and sidewalks. Old WW2 fortifications are at the park as well. Very little litter. Bicycles welcome, pets aren't. Nice ocean š views. Bathroom was in decent shape. I recommend a visit. Update: Saturday afternoon, November 2020; Returned for a hike and to see if Christina Levitan's review of places inside the park were what I remembered. They were. The 155 Gun mounts, the bunker and ammunition storage bunker and the playground have their own spot on Google Maps. If you explore the entire park, you will come across them. Even with the cold and Fall foilage almost gone, the park is popular and charging admission. Trails to explore and rocks to climb! Great views all around, especially Star Island. You might spot deer š¦ roaming around. Great place for bird watching. Update: April 2024; The recent Spring storm and high tides did a lot of damage but you can...
