Disliked · We had a sleepless night due to a noise disturbance that escalated to a domestic dispute and ended with the police coming to arrest a guest. The staff is off-site (from check-in to check-out) which they are explicit about in the emails they send prior to arrival outlining a litany of rules and regulations they are not around to enforce (there are no visible signs of security anywhere despite the $600 room rate). It is indicated if there is an issue to call, but the fine print leads one to believe that if they left a dirty dish in the sink or grain of sand on a towel they would be fined upwards of $500, so calling a non-existent hotel manager between 2-6 AM seemed impractical and possibly a nuisance (I did text the number but it was not received because it is a landline). When I finally reached the staff both Abby and Doug were dismissive and petty, continually placing the onus of the incident on us because we had not called to alert them that we felt very unsafe that there was a situation that resulted in two SUV police vehicles on their premises without their knowledge. They continued to nickel and dime us after I thought we had come to a reasonable solution (to fine the guests for the disturbance and refund us that amount of $500). They eventually issued us an insulting refund of less than half the amount of the room, which we again had to negotiate to get an additional $50. Thanks to Doug, this was a very memorable 1st Anniversary for my...
Read moreI’ve been to the NH Seacoast several times, this was my first time staying here. I enjoyed the quiet location. The rooms are well appointed, and clean.
First and foremost, and the primary reason for the rating is the check in and check out procedure is not secure. I won’t go into details here, but it’s not a secure keyless entry. It had been a long day, and I didn't realize the lack of security until after I was checked in, and in the room, so I stayed. Then when checking out, I again realized it was not secure.
The ocean is across the street, but the small beach referenced on the website is pretty inaccessible unless you want to scramble up over rock and gravel. Lovely beaches are a short drive away, but they are a drive, or a walk on a curvy road.
If you have allergies to dogs, I’d caution you this might not be the best place to stay. While their policies state dogs aren’t allowed on bed or furniture, there is absolutely no way to enforce (especially since this is an unstaffed property). I took a chance that I’d be ok, it didn’t turn out well.
I did provide this feedback directly to the proprietors, as they sent an email asking for feedback. I have yet to...
Read moreThe Rye Motor Inn is fantastic!! The location is on a quieter section of Rte. 1A, which is great. I gave the location 4 stars, only because the beach across the street is difficult to access, and not really suitable for swimming. But, there are plenty of swimming areas accessible within a short driving distance. My sisters and I stayed, after booking at the last moment, and were so happy that we'd done so, especially as we usually avoid "motel" settings. The facility (our unit, the pool/pool deck, the pool bathroom) was literally immaculate!!! We loved that it's an adults only (21+) property, and that there were a lot of "rules" (to me they seemed like points of common courtesy). Because of the focus on creating a quiet and relaxing environment, through the "rules", we had an amazingly chill and problem-free time. So much so, that all 3 of us really hope to return!!!! If you value an aggravation-free stay, with peace and quiet, then I highly recommend you stay here! If you're looking to party and make a nuisance of yourself, stay somewhere else...
