It's amazing to find that a rocky water fall exists only two miles from the ocean. This might be the closest waterfall to the ocean in the lower 48 states. The water and the rocks reminded me of waterfalls that you would expect to see in the Rocky Mountains.
Mind you, this is not much of a waterfall, but the trail to the falls and the waterfall is very much worth the effort to find this place. The trails are well shaded by the large trees in the park. It's all very pretty. Several hiking trails and the trails are well marked and maintained by volunteers.
Parking was readily available the day we went. Surprisingly, there were not many people there. We felt like we had the place to...
Read moreI was visiting from Virginia and a few Orchard Beach locals suggested a trip to the falls. Not Niagara, but worth a 1 or 2 hour visit. Easy drive, but not well marked from the street, looks like a sign missing. Recent rainfall made for decent falls water flow. Did not see any fishing going on. Many side trails off main trails. Some litter I found and removed. Give...
Read morePretty decent trail, with multiple loops, nice river and falls. It’s a pretty easy trail with several different elevations. This place has a sturdy bridge over the river, several quirky/kitschy sights and artifacts and also benches along the way. It’s relatively small. It would be good for families. They had bags for dogs and a portable toilet. There’s parking for maybe 12 vehicles. The entrance was a little hard to see and tricky with people driving fast. It’s about 9 minutes away from downtown...
