This place is a hidden gem in Saginaw. Located across the street from the former GM Malleable Foundry ( which is now a park) just off S. Michigan Ave in Saginaw, it doesn't look like anything special from the outside. But the inside is one big ( in relative terms) open concert venue with a 2nd floor mezzanine on both the back wall and one side wall. The night we went the band "The Prince Experience" was there and the place was sold out. Probably about 500 patrons ( not sure), all having a good time. Tickets are $20 for every show, a bargain by today's standards. The staff are friendly and always available. No rows of seats, everyone sits at a table, which are given plenty of room, along with an open area in front of the stage for those that want to venture up or dance, depending on the tribute. Security was ample ( we saw no issues all night) and drinks are reasonably priced. The show was a huge success and we plan on returning again. A few words of advice: bring ear protection. The sound system is pretty robust and it was being put to good use, but not overamped to the point of poor audio quality. We have gone back to see an Elton John tribute band ( Captain Fantastic) and "Floyd Live" and had great experiences at both shows. No chance of ever getting up close to the real artist but I probably could of walked up and shook Caption Fantastic's hand during the show. For about $20 entry fee this is a night out like no other. Next up: YYNot , a Rush cover band in Feb. (Looking forward to it:) Edit : YYNOT was fantastic. The Vault interior has been upgraded with better audio and visual treatments. We have seen about 10 shows here now, most recently an Aerosmith tribute. Always a good time. Some munchies are now available...
Read moreIt’s a new but underrated venue.. not exactly a fan of its location but it’s a nice venue and every show I’ve seen sounded great there .. in comparison to the closest venue the Machine Shop it’s bigger with taller ceilings so it’s not so congested and sweaty , the sound quality is also better in my opinion. Shows have sounded loud and clean , not distorted trying to simply be loud . Great job by the sound guys here .. It doesn’t have the atmosphere of the Shop yet and they get a lot of tribute bands as opposed to the level of quality bands a place like the Shop gets but I get it’s a gamble at this time for them to get a head of themselves and lose money on shows without a bigger venue following .. regular attendance appears to slowly building here which should make them players for some of the bigger and more relevant bands in the future though ! Think they need to do better in advertising and do like the Machine Shop did and had Banana 101 doing live broadcasts and other events there on a regular basis , that really helped them expand to an audience beyond Flint . Saginaw has z93 which has a huge listening area but I still know a lot of people in Saginaw and Tri cities who still never heard of the Vault but go to concerts in flint and around the state all the time , thats a problem ! Hopefully this place continues to grow and improve, it’s great having a place like this closer to home than Flint and Detroit and think it’s got great potential to be a big time concert venue in the state . I have been here for like 10 shows , never a bad experience and staff has been great . Everyone I’ve spoken to about the Vault has pretty much the same opinion as I do . Keep up the good...
