I reached out to the business, but was rudely dismissed. My mother in law booked "The Chamber #1" Unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. After booking, someone from Xscape called asking if we wanted to switch to a different room because they noticed we had a child in our party and that "The Chamber" is advanced. We declined. After a few minutes into our experience, I started to wonder if the attempted switcheroo was due to full knowledge that this particular room was not up to snuff.
To begin with, the Walkie talkie was seemingly defective, which led to our cluemaster frequently entering the room, often to give clues that were not asked for, which completely took us out of what is supposed to be an immersive experience. Several of the puzzles were defective, including one lock that opened without entering a combo, and a locked box that was practically open before opening the lock. The flashlight was low on batteries and when we made this known, the cluemaster disappeared for a few minutes and then returned saying no, it's actually fine and doesn't need batteries (the light was really too dim to easily decipher the clues).All these defects aside, many of the clues really did not make sense.I've done other escape rooms which are well thought out and don't have so many "red herrings".Our dissatisfaction with the experience was expressed as soon as we were done, but the "cluemaster" (who I believe to be one of the owners) did not care.
I reached out by email requesting a refund.After being refused and expressing my disappointment that a business would be comfortable offering no make good on such an unsatisfactory product I was met with condescension,being told we "were warned the room was too advanced for kids" and that "others have solved the room just fine" both of which have nothing to do with the nature of my complaint. As I write this, Xscape appears to have 0 bookings so far today(A Friday).I wish we had taken the extensive availability on a peak day as a clue that this was not the best show in town. I hope this review helps inform someone's choice and the seek out a better experience elsewhere.

When you go into an escape room you should go in with the expectation that you may "waste an hour" in your words.    Read moreWe went here Thanksgiving night for some after Turkey fun. There were 3 adults and one 7 year old. We did Blackbeard’s Brig. 2 of us have done many escape rooms and one had not done any before.
The detail of the room was amazing. The puzzles were themed and tied the room together perfectly. Our son solved several of them and had an absolute ball, which was exactly what we were looking for.
We have taken him to other venues before but never has he had the interaction with the staff that we saw here.
The greatest part of the experience though was the owners. Bc we were coming through as a family looking to just have fun and not as a competitive group, they took the time to help our son out with the puzzles that he worked on and really helped give him a huge sense of accomplishment. I can’t express how wonderful it was after we lest to hear him recalling all of the amazing things he had just experienced with the largest smile on his face.

The set up of the room was great, unfortunately I would not go back to this place and do not recommend it due to the staff’s horrible customer service. When we called to ask a question, when we arrived at the location and all throughout the experience there we only came in contact with one staff member, we did not see anyone else, not sure if he was the owner, but his nasty attitude was awful. He did not seem to want anyone there, as soon as we called he said with a nasty tone that he was all booked and he had no space available, but we had already booked online. Also when he was explaining the rules, or when we asked for a clue he would come into the room as if he was soo annoyed and we were such a burden to him.
