We visited the abbey for the self guided tour on a Friday afternoon. Beautiful grounds and abbey. The grottos were so tranquil and relaxing. I could have easily spent a few hours just relaxing and meditating at the grottos. We also visited the gift shop. It was underwhelming for us. Maybe we had our expectations up too high. I was expecting more items and items made by the monks (they did have soap made by the monks but nothing more that we saw). We also came back to the abbey on Sunday for the solemn mass. I expected too much once again. I was hoping that I would hear Gregorian chants on either Friday or Sunday. Neither happened. I was very disappointed. The monks also were not what I expected. Nice men of god but not as expected. Overall if I am in the area again I would visit for mass and I hope they bring those Gregorian chants back...
