The Church of St. Mark is the parish I attend as a parishioner, and it reminds me significantly of the parish I belonged to during my childhood (Sacred Heart in St. Paul). The parish community is warm and welcoming, embodying the spirit of the Pro Ecclesia Sancta ecclesial family comprising priests and other religious individuals who lead our congregation in prayer, service, and Catholic teachings. The parish community adheres to conservative traditions, which is one of the reasons I was drawn to it. It maintains practices from previous eras, such as kneeling for Holy Communion (if chosen), reciting certain prayers in Latin, and promoting frequent reconciliation. Furthermore, it is a "young" parish with numerous families attending Mass with their children. Those unfamiliar with the sounds made by young children should be prepared to appreciate their participation in singing praises to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. As with, I’m sure, other young parishes, there are some families whose parents need to address issues such as children running in aisles, playing with toys, eating, drinking, or standing on pews during Mass to maintain decorum. Overall, St. Mark’s provides an excellent environment for worshipping the Holy Trinity and participating in various parish activities, including bi-annual rummage sales, coffee & doughnuts after Mass, Men’s and Women’s small prayer groups, youth nerf-nights, Valentine’s Day dances, swing dances, Lenten fish fry and soup suppers, Bible studies, young adult socials at local pubs, summer parish picnics, fall festivals, and many more events. It also hosts a fabulous pre-school! Father David Hottinger serves as our Pastor and excels in his duties, as do the other priests and brothers who support the St. Mark’s parish community. I highly, HIGHLY recommend...
Read moreThe Church of St. Mark is an absolute gem! The liturgy is beautiful, reverent, and truly elevates the soul. I love attending the 9 AM Mass—there’s an incredible sense of community, with so many young families and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re part of something bigger.
This parish has a more traditional and conservative feel, and the priests do not shy away from proclaiming the truth with clarity and love. Their homilies strike a great balance between scripture and real-life applications, challenging and encouraging us to grow as better people.
The church building itself is stunning—the stained glass windows add to the sacred beauty of the space, making it an incredible place for prayer and worship. If you're looking for a thriving parish that knows who she is and boldly lives out the faith, I highly...
Read more100% Roman Catholic. They will not dilute the Gospel or sugarcoat Church teachings. Many young families here and overall active parish.
With mass, formation, etc being led by Peruvian order Pro Ecclesia Sancta, I continue to hope that the parish will consider having masses celebrated in Spanish ("¿porque no los dos?")!
My 1 request for clergy and admin: Pleaseee adjust the confession schedule according to any changes on a given week- I've triedn to go various different times based on the posted schedule only to find no one there! Maybe we can also have a sign to let people know if there's anyone in the confessional during such times since they're from pre electricity days and there is no...
