This is a beautiful little gem in St. Paul. I went this morning after work and there was nobody on the trail. It was somewhat difficult to find the trail with the construction, but if you park on Mississippi Blvd, you will see the sign that I took a picture of that is the start of the trail (the entrance is on Cretin and Mississippi). The leaves are changing now so it's the perfect time to go! Make sure you wear good hiking shoes/boots because it is an unpaved trail, very muddy, and some parts are steep. I wore croc like shoes and was slipping all over. When you get to the little wooden bridge (see pictures), stay to the right of the creek or you will end up going straight down the hill...there are rock stairs on the other side. If you follow the creek all the way down, you will end up on a sandbar on the Mississippi River. There is a nice bluff at that point that you can climb and get an AMAZING view. I followed the trail up past the bluff and came out at 'The Monument' of a cross at the end of Summit Ave. It was probably a 1.5 mile hike total and took me about an hour since I went the wrong way by the falls....

Very pretty little hike in the middle of the city! A little walk through the woods to see the beautiful waterfall, and then a little past that you can go down toward the river, or up to a lookout point with a great view of the river and the city! The actual falls has a somewhat steep path to get down to the falls, but if you are careful you can get to the bottom the falls, where it's fun to explore the rocks and the moss that grow around the waterfall. I went in the winter, and there was a really interesting and cool ice formation that was made by the dripping water - it looked like an ice sculpture! Although the falls are cool in the winter, they were prettier in the summer when the trees...

Beautiful fall walk down to the fall. My friend recommended and we were there to take photos this time! It’s simply breathtaking! Beautiful little stream falling down on the side of the path and the trees were golden yellow to pink. My friend said she goes there every single year! And we’re about to start too. All our kids loved the place and ran around with joy! Recommend to family and friends. It’s quite unbelievably close to the nature being in the middle of the city. Take care to behave so you wouldn’t disturb the nature and the neighborhood...

This is a fun place to hike. There's a long trail that will take you near the Marshall Ave Bridge on one side and the other side leads to the waterfall. Though my pictures are from spring, my favorite time to visit this place is in the fall. It looks magical almost with bright golden oaks and maples, red and dappled orange, lots of fall colors. There are rock ledges to look over the river, that is if they aren't already occupied. One thing I don't like is the graffiti on the waterfall at the moment of this review.
