Our family visit to East Beach on St. Simons Island was a memorable highlight of our trip. The picturesque shoreline with its expansive golden sands provided the perfect playground for our children and a serene escape for the adults.
The beach was clean and well-maintained, with gentle waves that were perfect for little ones to play in. We found a spot with ease and settled in for a day of relaxation, beach games, and exploration. Nearby amenities were accessible, making it a family-friendly destination.
What stood out was the sense of community at East Beach. Locals and visitors alike were courteous, and there was a shared appreciation for the natural beauty of the area. We were even given recommendations for local eateries by friendly fellow beachgoers.
We did use a navigation tool to find our way to East Beach, and it was helpful in guiding us there without any hassle. It also provided information about nearby attractions that we found useful.
East Beach is more than just a beach; it's a place where memories are made. Its beauty, accessibility, and friendly atmosphere make it a must-visit for families exploring Georgia's coastal treasures. It's a place we'll surely return to...
Read moreThe actual beach was fun, but it could barely be considered a public beach in the sense of amenities. There are no changing rooms, just a dirty bathroom which in my opinion is too far from the water (you have to walk across the beach, up a path, on a short walkway, and then past the public spray hoses and food stand, past the storage area, to get to the men's room). The parking is horrific. There is only room in the aisles for 1 car to drive, but no signs or arrows directing which way to go. Believe me, a 3 way traffic jam in the back of a parking lot is no fun. Besides that, there is not enough parking space. I ended up having to leave the parking lot and parking on a side street. When you're on the beach, you can forget all the craziness and relax, but don't get in trouble in the water because there were no lifeguards, and not just none on duty, there were no lifeguard chairs, no signs saying lifeguard off duty, swim at you own risk... nothing. Somebody needs to invest some more money...
Read moreI've been coming here since I was a kid and over the years it has changed quite a bit. The bathrooms and other amenities are great compared to what they used to be. As far as the beach access, get ready to do a LOT of walking if you plan on getting to where there are actual waves (I only mean ankle high to knee high waves at best by the way) because the movement of the sand bars through the years has decimated any chance at body surfing or boogie boarding. However, since there's so much more sand there now, it's impossible for the beach to not have enough room to fit all of the tourists who flock to the area.
Tip: if you want to get away from where all of the tourists go, park on the far right side of the parking lot and there's a nice little thin trail that'll lead you to the beach and it's far enough away that no one will bother you but you will miss out on being closer to the bathrooms, showers and vendors who come to the beach during the summer...
