Guilford Lake — Attraction in Salem

The one star is for the beautiful lake but the rest we would give a minus five stars as it is filthiest campground we have ever been too. We both had to use the facilities as soon as we got there and before we parked for our five day stay there. There are four stalls in the ladies room and each one was disgustingly dirty. My husband had the same experience in the men's room. It was clear that no one cares about the place and no one bothers to clean up after the types of people who camp there. The site was not at all what was pictured...one right after the other, no privacy in any shape or form. If we were the person in charge of the Ohio State campgrounds, we would fire everyone involved in its care or lack there of - we both said that for Ohio to have their name on that campground is an embarrassment. First time here was on July 4th. I loved it. Best swimming lake I have been to in a long time. I found it on accident by driving around and fell in love with the lake. Will continue to go here when I want to swim. Very clean lake. Friendly people and everyone that lives on the lake are friendly. Went on a Sunday with family. Nice place to go and relax and change of scenery. We went to swim. I ended up swimming only for a bit.
