Reason to the rating: Last week 9/19/18 on their Open house day* at pick up time my daughter had scratches all over her chest and arm. When asking Mrs.A as per what happened? Her responds was, "Are you sure it's not mosquito bites?" When clearly you can see lines on her chest and arm. When teacher got called in for an answer, Mrs.D mention a little boy was fighting with my daughter and she even mention a name. Which at that point I did not make a big fuss because they are kids and I completely understand things happen. On that day I did not recieve an incident report. Coming into this week, on 9/25/18 at pick up time my daughter is scratched again all over her chest. When asking Mrs.T if she had an issue with a student again her responds was, " Are you sure it's not mosquito bites?" My question is.... Is that your go too line/ excuse? When Mrs.D is asked what happened. Her responds was, "I don't know and I did not see anything happen today." Neither gave me an answer that day and just looked at me quietly as I waited for a reponds, I did mention to them both it was the second week in a row i picked up my daughter all scratched. At the point they still stood there quietly, so I left. On 9/26/18 I spoke with Mrs.A about the situations and I request an incident report for both occasions because I was not given one and nothing was being documented. Once again she asked me, " Are you sure it's not mosquito bites or has she ever harm herself?" No! My daughter has never harm herself and as the paper work they have on file states, shes allergic to mosquitos bites and she wouldn't have lines to begin with. I left her that morning and checked on her as I usually do during the day. When I called a during my lunch, Mrs.A responds is " She's doing fine but teacher saw her get frustrated with a little boy and she punched him in the stomach so he punched her in the face and we are going to do a report." So you're telling me after 2 months of service my daughter is punching kids now and the same day I'm asking you for incident reports, all of a sudden this happens so you're doing one on her. At pick up time, (earlier than usual) I get both reports from Mrs.T, First one: of last week done by the teacher Mrs.D. "Mom noticed scratches on child chest at pick up" date on the report says "N/A" parent notified "N/A" Discussing that one report with Mrs.T, I tell her that this is not what I was told and teacher clearly said a little boy had scratched her in front of Mrs.A so why isn't that on the report? Mrs.T repsonds to me was, "well we asked her today and she said she didn't remember." Moving on to second report of this week on tuesday, it says "mom brought to our attention @ pick up that child had a scratch on her chest. Teacher saw child scratching at chest, however didn't notice red mark left behind" My responds to Mrs.T, " Wasn't I told from you and teacher that you didn't know? Didn't Mrs.D in front of you said she hadn't seen anything? And this morning by Mrs.A I was told she didnt know either?" And once again no responds from Mrs.T just standing there quietly. Lastly, on final report of "my daughter punching a kid on the stomach" they were unable to show me the video of her doing such a thing because the needed to get approval from director. At the point I refused to sign any of the reports. The fact I was lied too on several occasions and was told one thing and another was reported is beyond me. The fact the First report has N/A as a date that is beyond silly and ridiculous and proofs exactly my frustration with this day care. If I could load pictures of the "scratch" which in reality is SCRATCHES because she had several I would load the pictures along with the silly reports...
Read moreOnce the company was put under new management I was unfortunately fired directly after putting in a 2 week notice for problems I was experiencing with the new interim director and director of the other location. My class had improper air conditioning causing multiple children to have heat rash, I was given a fan to “fix” it, it did not, this is also combined with over ratioed classrooms with mixed ages because the directors would like to go home early. I was told “after seeing your notice (main director) and I have decided today was your last day.” Please be wary of bringing your child here.
Edit: is 6-11 or sometimes even 14 children at a time a small ratio because I was put with that amount a majority of the time I was employed, I have photographic proof of that. And told I was moved to the smaller classroom due to staffing issues, I have messages to prove that as well. So if there were any question of my work ethic it was not addressed. The fan was indeed for the MULTIPLE children that had heat rash from that classroom, which was reported to the parents by me not by the directors. And if you had the camera footage which you don’t because the cameras have been out for weeks. You would see I recieved a call, answered the phone because It was my doctor, but proceeded to put it on the shelf because I was indeed at work tending to children, and resumed the call to them them that I was at work and they would need to call me after hours. And for contacting management, that would be pretty hard to do considering after firing me I was blocked on all devices even though management knows I have personal items, like some of the only copies of my dead mothers photos, hung up on the wall because I planned on staying and not leaving the rest of the staff struggling. Thanks again for showing how unprofessional this...
Read moreI can't say enough good things about Discovery World. We have been going here for 2.5 years, and my kids love it. So much so, that at home, they ask when they're going back to school... lol. We've been here through director and staff changes, and my husband and I are really happy with the direction the school is going. Ms. Annie is an amazing director, and all the other staff have been and continue to be so attentive and caring of our kids. You can feel the love they have for all the children there.
Discovery World provides meals and keeps a record of what they did that day, what they ate, etc. The kids come home with crafts they made, and the school has themed days/weeks for kids to dress up and get excited about an activity. My kids come home with new vocabulary or having learned something new alllll the time, and the staff make apparent what the curriculum is. The security has also recently been updated, and the directors make themselves very available to get ahold of through the app or on the phone.
I'm really pleased to see an already great daycare continue to evolve into an even better one, and it's wonderful that it's reasonably priced given the astronomical prices I see elsewhere. I can't say enough about DWLC!! We love it here. Thank you to all the teachers for impacting our children's lives so positively and keeping them safe...
