What can I say about Geeks Candy Shop.....This is the best place in San Diego to pick up surplus/used Computers, Tablets, and parts!!!!! The customer service is outstanding and they bend over backwards to take care of you. I went in looking to build a home NAS and we decided on an older Dell Power Edge tower machine. We loaded it up with additional ram, hard drives, and an ssd boot drive. They tested and fought with it to get make sure everything was detected in the bios (the whole process took about 1.5 hours) and I went home with my new to me machine. Unfortunately when I got home and tried installing Truenas Core it kept hanging up during the install process (I even tried using Unraid and still no luck). The next day I gave them a call and was told to bring it back in. I got there a little after 4pm (they close at 5pm) and we proceeded to look for another machine that would fit my needs. After trying out a few options we ended up putting together a custom setup out of the parts they had in stock. They stayed open 40 minutes late to make sure I was taken care of and even gave me a discount on the upgrades. If you are in need of an affordable PC, Tablet, or just need to grab some parts to build or upgrade your existing computer......Geeks Candy Shop is the best place in town...
Read moreThe long and the short is don’t buy from them, however here is the full story. I purchased a MacBook Air from this company that posed as a seller on the platform OfferUp which ended up being just this retail shop. When I brought the laptop home I notice it had a lock I assumed at first this was FileVault but turns out it was a firmware lock. I originally asked the store if it didn’t work if I could swap it for another one in their stock with a broken display. I was told this wouldn’t be an issue. I took it to the apple store in an attempt to remove the firmware lock but without the original receipt this wouldn’t be possible as it was most likely lost or stolen. When I returned to the store I was told they didn’t have the other laptop anymore and I couldn’t get a refund, which was a known policy when I purchased. While I knew I couldn’t get a refund I was taken back when the laptop I was told would be there for me to swap had already been sold. This left me holding a worthless laptop. After requesting multiple times from the very helpful sells associate they finally refunded my money. I would not recommend purchasing anything from this...
Read moreWhen covid started and we started working remotely, one of my co-workers found this spot. He gave the team the info but unfortunately I misplaced it and he was laid off. A month went by and I got a text from him about a job opportunity (I was laid off a month after he was) I asked him about the little place he mention and I am so happy he reached out. I needed a few items since I will be working remotely again and this place had everything I need it. I got a monitor, docking station, RAM, and a hard drive. My 17 year old has an online business and she got a second monitor, CPU, and a hard drive. Just seeing the excitement on the upgrade and that I could afford it was enough to give it more stars if I could. The prices are very affordable, the staff is great and helpful. You can test onsite before you purchase on one of their computers or BYO. I was very please with my purchases and will recommend them if you need inexpensive computer parts for doing business remote or even some gaming action. We have gone back and gotten another monitor and a hard drive for my sister and...
