This is one of my favorite beaches to go to because it's small and private with a gorgeous view of Shelter Island and all the yachts and sail boats that go cruising by. It's a family beach as well as a dog beach with dogs playing and swimming around. It never gets too crowded (except on the Fourth of July) but parking is hard to find since it's in a residential area. There are plenty of things you can do there. You can go paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, boating, walking, running, collecting seashells, etc. The vibe is really friendly and casual and I've been coming here since I was a little girl. It’s not too crowded, and because it’s a bay, it’s really perfect for small children because you don’t have to worry about big surf or undertow. The beach doesn’t have too many shells. The sand isn’t fine, but it’s not too dirty. Kellogg beach is located a few blocks from the end of a coastal pedestrian/bike path, so it’s a great place to visit if you’re staying in the area and can bike in.
