It’s a nice place to visit if you’re around the area, its free just like parking is. I went during the weekend so there were a ton of cars parked and we had to walk just to get there. The view from that spot is nice and calm. According to the info i read it says the following information: The citizens of Yokohama, Japan presented the Friendship Bell to San Diego in May 1958 as part of the Centennial Celebration of formal relations between that country and the United States. It also served to mark the establishment of the sister city relationship between San Diego and Yokohama, which was the first such affiliation on the West Coast. The large bronze bell housed in a pagoda structure was designed by artist...

This is a wonderful and peaceful spot off of the beaten path in San Diego. It is so simple to get to, and usually with plenty of easy and free parking. The plants and grass are well taken care of, so the area is beautiful all of the time. The Bell and the surrounding mote are kept up meticulously. There are multiple cherry blossom trees. Ducks and seagulls like to visit. If you have some extra time, take the sidewalk along the island, so you can view the downtown skyline, and see ships in the harbor. You will also have access to multiple picnic tables and children's playgrounds. This is definitely a great place to stop either before or after the airport during your visit to San Diego! And...

At the tip of Shelter Island is the Japanese Friendship Bell. It was presented to the people of San Diego by the City of Yokohama, Japan in 1958 as a symbol of eternal friendship. San Diego and Yokohama became Sister Cities in 1957. A flowering peach tree on the site was presented to San Diego by Yokohama in 2008, on the 50th Anniversary of the Friendship pact.

This area is a great spot for watching yachts sail by, as several prestigious yacht clubs make their homes on...

I’ve lived in San Diego for years and just stumbled upon this charming spot by chance while strolling to the end of a cul-de-sac. It’s a perfect little stop for photos! This hidden gem deserves more recognition—it features art, ocean views, yachts, and beautiful trees. Located in a cul-de-sac, it offers plenty to see and do! Plenty of parking spots. No ticket needed.

On June 27, 2010, a statue of the same type as the girl statue (the girl statue wearing red shoes) in Yamashita Park ,Japan was unveiled in San Diego, a sister city of Yokohama. This statue was erected in San Diego to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the statue's installation in Yamashita Park
