An amazing place to sit and reflect on life! I stumbled across this place due to google maps and wow!!!! I enjoyed every second of this and the sunset! It was so fun to walk and stop at places and just sit and look! Parking is a little tight but we did find a spot eventually! I sat and had dinner here!! I will for sure come back to this location and soak it in every-time I’m there!!! Saw some surfers and giant cargo ships! So cool !!!!!

There are in general 2 ways to get to the cove: officially there is a set of steps from the north where you can walk down to the cove; in the Sunset Cliff Natural Park, there is also a steep trail beyond the rope fence (at your own risk of course) where you can walk down to the beach, and when the tide is low, you can approach the cove from the south side. The rocks can be very slippery when wet so stay careful.

Such a fun place to get down closer to the water, especially if it's low enough tide and you can see the tide pools. There is parking all along the street and some free parking lots too. You don't need to park close, because walking to the stairs is a wonderful view and you'll want to walk north and south after this anyway.

I’ve lived here for a decade and finally made it to the cave. Initially I wanted to share pictures to help others find how to get to the actual cave but once there I understood why it’s one of San Diego’s best kept secret places. If you’re determined, adventurous, and agile enough to make it down steep cliffs and slippery rocks during very short windows of negative tide then congratulations on being the few to witness this incredible place. For those who find it’s too dangerous to attempt there’s amazing tide pools in OB and the area around sunset cliffs is still absolutely beautiful and picturesque. Please be mindful of the sea life on the rocks and the erosion on the cliffs as it’s increasingly dangerous and...
