Sunset Cliffs is a beautiful scenic route to get to the views and you will love the history of erosion on the cliffs in CA and in town. I'm a fan of the beach and love the ocean so much, and the cliffs were such a wonderful way to find quiet in the roars of nature. I loved to sit alone or with friends with many words or none at all as I'm always hypnotized by San Diego scenery and views that are spectacular and make me so blessed to be a native of CA. I wish the cliffs still existed in the length they did before, but land will do what is best for itself and we may see more space if erosion keeps splitting cliff wigs. I jumped off the cliff after a boy named Anthony who was pushed by a joking friend. We barely knew him, and he was so upset as he fell and pointed quickly as he was pushed his finger at us and me...."YOUUUU!!!!" and I jumped after him like a baby that never swam. I was so disappointed as I saw the rocks under me shards at my face, and I screamed lengthy 3 screams for gasping and hit the water then. I tried to land on my butt and hands like a flop instead as I wanted to stay to the surface. A lot of thinking going on for an emergency reaction. Make sure you stay away from cliffs if you can be prone to jumping off of it if someone falls. You may both get seriously killed. I love the cliffs but stay safe and hope you enjoy the sunsets for many years to come. Coast of California is my hometown and birthplace. I hope to recover quickly and join solar families everywhere as I lived after several years of unchecked gas leak and lost friend/ service animal and others affected here as well as deaths surrounding and 2 leaks leaked but not to news somehow in protection or violation of some sort of freak nature. Maybe more or too late. I am grateful to live after seeing 103 lbs after over 50 lbs of weightloss in just a hand full of years here alone after years of trying with no success- blaming mental illness or workouts and diets with no thought of gas until I was praying for end of pain or life earlier when it existed at its peaks. Sorry. Beach is hopefully safe to breathe and I love the cleansing aspect of the water and winds with nature. I love you Sunset and Sunset Cliffs. You were every dream come true for this girl when I had no responsibilities. I miss you daily.
SEE SOON.... THESE CLIFFS WILL BE...
Read moreSunset Cliffs. Now there's a place that could make even a hardened man like myself believe in magic.
You stand there, on the edge of the continent, and suddenly the world makes a little more sense. The Pacific stretches out before you, vast and unforgiving, yet somehow soothing. It's the kind of view that could make a man spill his deepest secrets - or perhaps keep them forever.
As day fades, the real show begins. The sun, that old celestial trickster, paints the sky in hues that would make any master forger green with envy. Golds, crimsons, violets - a symphony of color that leaves you breathless.
The cliffs themselves? Rugged, unyielding, shaped by eons of waves and wind. They remind me of some of the tougher characters I've encountered - weathered, perhaps, but unbreakable.
There's a raw energy here, a primal beauty that cuts through all the noise and clutter of our complicated lives. It's a reminder that sometimes, the most valuable things can't be bought, stolen, or negotiated for.
Five stars? Absolutely. It's more than just a scenic spot. It's a front-row seat to one of nature's greatest performances, a daily reminder of our own insignificance in the grand scheme of things.
So take my advice: go. Stand there as the day dies in a blaze of glory. Let the salt air fill your lungs and the beauty fill your soul. And for a moment, just a moment, forget about the intricate dance of shadows we call life. Trust me, it's worth...

🪨 Cliff erosion is an ongoing concern. The sandstone is fragile, and parts of the bluff edge are unstable. Warning signs are posted, but visitors often edge too close. Exercise caution—several collapses have occurred over the years due to natural erosion and heavy foot traffic.
