MISLEADING AND UNTRUSTWORTHY COMPANY Poor Dog Training services at Snug Pet Resort Training Company this holiday, I bought a puppy for my kids and decided to search a reputable dog-training center. After a search based on customer reviews, I decided to take my puppy to Snug Pet Resort Training, which had a higher ranking than other facilities in the neighborhood. Although the center was a 45-minute driving distance with San Diego traffic, the promised services, efficiency, and care convinced me to enroll my puppy in the school. Little did I know that it was the greatest mistake that I would make; the online reviews are misleading. My initial encounter with the company trainer, David, was promising and the basic instruction and training session showed a sign of efficiency and understanding. I categorically, informed David that Ginger (the puppy) should be scheduled for puppy lesson for the first few weeks until she is old enough to board. I even explained my future goals since the puppy would grow to be a big dog. As a military family, a trained dog would be an advantage in the household, since we do a lot of traveling. After meeting David, I promised to call on following Saturday to make reservations for the first puppy training. I made the call on Saturday, reserved, and paid for the same over the phone. However, the problems started when I called to confirm the day and time for the training. Surprisingly, the associate did not know of any reservation or a set time for the same. Funny enough, the company had no details on whom and when the reservation was made. When they confirmed the date and time, I drove to the Snug Pet Resort and I got the real shock of my life. First, the receptionist required me to give the name of the person I gave my reservation. I thought they had a record, but no. after a while, David arrived and began playing with the puppy. I was directed to follow David for the session, and my biggest surprise was when he said he had already started the lesson. Seriously, is playing with the puppy on the desk a lesson! Secondly, the lesson was a repeat of the basic commands. Thirdly, the security of the dogs is poor as another dog ran after Ginger and went after her, only for the trainer to say the puppy cried after David aggressively grabbed Ginger. Surprisingly after the incident David the “high speed trainer” stated Ginger had enough for the day, 10 into the second lesson, WOW!. That was a big joke. After driving for 45 minutes, waiting in the reception for over 20 minutes, the training lesson lasted for 10 minutes; a repeat of basic commands that Ginger knew, and my dog went home hurt and upset. The following few, I decided to call management and explain my frustration. One of the manager tried to work it out, My husband and I felt dismissed and taking of advantage off. I requested a refund, and she stated I needed to bring a copy of my payment because they have no record of it. So I asked who took my payment? I replied, so I stated you can keep the money that I paid for the lesson package, and stated to the manger I will be reporting this company to our Post Legal Office. The Snug Pet Resort has the worst customer services, poor coordination, lacks record books, and the services are frustrating. My experience made me doubt the high ranking and positive reviews provided by the customers. I would never recommend the center to anybody. I will be reporting this company to our military law office to have them blacklisted, so Soldiers and their families will not be mislead and taking advantage off. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO...
Read moreI dropped off my dog with the trainer Dominique Mellinger for a 10 day board and train to work on some basic manners but mostly to board for 10 days.
Dominique failed to meet the most basic requirements agreed upon in the contract.
She could not even send a single photo at the half way point of the training, which was agreed upon in the contract. 1 day after the halfway point I got an email saying she was to busy to take a single photo, but did have time to write an email excuse…..
When she did finally email with an updated on day 7 of 10. It simply said he was doing great and thank you for letting me watch him.
She then failed to respond when asked repeatedly both by email and by phone, to confirm a time to pick up my dog on day 10. She and the office confirmed she was working that day but simply not responding.
At 6am the morning of day 10 she sent me one email to try and tried to cover by making up excuses for not doing anything earlier this week and then tried to explain that because she was bad at time management they needed to keep him another day……
Not due to issues with training but because she had not taken the proper steps earlier in the week.
My dog was clearly stressed and is missing patches of fur. I assume he was locked in a cage most of the 10 days.
Because of the utter lack of communication and lack of professionalism I have no reason to think they did anything else. Due to the amount of paper work I was forced to sign I assume this happens a lot.
I was even forced to sign documents before they would let me see my dog when I arrived to pick him up saying that I was taking him “early” even though I was there on day 10. The day we agreed upon when I dropped him off for a 10 day board and train.
Edit (response to the owner)
Just to recap concrete facts stated in email by your team.
My dog was dropped off on Wednesday the 20th where I was told by Dominique in person that he would not be receiving training the day I dropped him off as per your standard procedure.
She then took Thursday and Friday off. So no training could have occurred then with Domonique.
Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday were days where training could have taken place but by Dominique’s own written admission she was too busy to even take a single photo (failing to meet the conditions in your contract).
Knowing that taking a photo takes around 10 seconds with one hand… I can’t imagine she had time to do any training. Having 5 days to take a single photo is a wonderful litmus test assigned to your own team by your own contract that they failed to pass.
I received one email on Wednesday, day 7 with 1 photo but no mention of scheduling a time to pick him up and she never responded to my messages, or phone calls placed to Snugpet Resort.
She was then out of the office Thursday and Friday and I picked him up on day 10, Saturday the 30th.
So simply counting days Dominique told me in writing she was not in the office and the days she told me she was too busy to even take a single photo makes 9 of the 10 days Domonique has admitted in writing to either not being there, or not having time to interact with my dog.
One of your team members reached out by email and offered to make it “right”
Because your team has confirmed in writing that my dog did not receive training on nine of the 10 days. I am requesting a full refund, As I was not the party to violate the contract,...
Read moreMy wife and I recently brought in our 1 1/2 year old Siberian Husky for training. We are extremely excited with the results. We had trouble with her chewing everything in our backyard from plants to children's toys to patio furniture, laying on the patio table, jumping at the rear door to get in and barking to get our attention when she wanted in or wanted someone to come outside and play. My wife runs an in home daycare and our husky would do pretty good around the kids. When she was trying to play with them she would occasionally knock the kids down accidentally. We took her to a couple training sessions at one of the "box store" pet stores. She did alright there, but nothing was sticking. The problem was that no matter how far you progressed in the training you utilized a clicker and a treat to reward the dog that they had done what you asked correctly. Well Siberian Huskies are very smart and when our dog would notice me or my wife with the clicker in our hand. She would do things no problem and this needed to be corrected.
So we brought her to Snug and met with Toni. We discussed our training issues and went a head with a 3 week training and boarding program. After 3 weeks we have a totally different dog and it's "AMAZING"! Before you would have to tell her more than once to sit, come or down. Now, it's pretty immediate. During this time frame she learned all the basic commands "on leash" and "off leash". We used to take her for walks and she would be walking us. When I take her for a walk now, I tell her to heal and she stays at my left side the entire time. She knows how to vary her speed with mine and it makes it so much easier and delightful for us both. When walking through a door I tell her to sit and wait as I open and walk through the door. She'll remain there until I tell her to come and it's awesome. She sits, stays, down, heals, goes to her bed, waits and leaves it with no problem. Like I said all this "on" or "off"' leash.
I would have never thought in a million years that I could come back from a walk. Put my dog in the down position in my front yard and drop the leash. Telling her down for a second time, walk to my door some 30ft away open it, walk into the house and my dog not move until I call her to come in the house.
I do have to say that at Snug, they can can get your dog where you want your dog to be when it comes to obedience, but it's the over all responsibility of the dog owner to make sure you continue to work with your dog(s). Toni and her training team will tell you the same thing. They do incredible work here and I can't thank Toni for everything she has done training our Husky.
Our beautiful Husky is now one of the most obedient dogs I've ever seen. She does everything we ask, she's even more amazing around the kids as well. Overall our experience here at Snug was unbelievable. Our Husky is happier and more loving and we're able to enjoy her more. I highly recommend...
