Oh my goodness this place is so good! They make their tacos with lots of thought and attention to detail with such well thought out and balanced flavors!! I walked in and ordered the Dorado Fish Taco and the New Yorker with a side of guacamole. The owner took my order and helped me decide what I wanted, being very patient with me while I decided on my order. While I waited, he gave me a cup of water and a gorgeous bottle of water that was so good! The decor inside was aesthetically pleasing and inviting. The Dorado fish taco was cooked perfectly with a delicate crisp giving the taco texture but not making it painful to eat like some fried fish tacos can be. It had fresh red cabbage and cucumbers with a grilled lemon on the side that squeezed out lemon juice perfectly when I ate it! The New Yorker was a perfectly cooked steak with a very nice and spicy poblano salsa on top. And the blue corn tortillas were perfect! I haven’t had blue corn tortillas since I was 12 years old stoping on the side of the road in Mexico City at a ranch restaurant in the middle of nowhere where to eat tacos.. Yes these blue corn tortillas brought me back like that! The guacamole was perfectly textured, creamy and complimented my tacos so well! Ugh I told my family about this place and they can’t wait to try it! And I can’t wait to try everything else on the menu! Such a great experience!

Overpriced and Underwhelming I ordered their signature Taco Plate, where the customer can choose three different tacos along with rice and beans, plus a $3 discount on the Taco Tuesdays. I went with the Carne Asada, Carnitas, and Al Pastor. While the Carnitas was tender, it came as a whole chunk of meat instead of the usual shredded pork, which was disappointing. The Al Pastor portion was shockingly small, with barely any meat on the taco. Their tacos are served on special purple, thin, crispy tortillas, but they only give you a single layer, making the tacos fall apart too easily. For $5 a taco, I expected more in terms of both quality and portion size. The restaurant itself is located in a nice area surrounded by businesses, with a modern decor and a big TV showing a baseball game, which was a plus. However, despite the pleasant atmosphere, I can't say the tacos are worth the price.

I'm always on the lookout for great tacos, and I'm happy to report that I found two absolute gems at The Craft Taco at SOVA. The Dorado taco is made with fresh, flaky fish that's been perfectly fried. It's topped with a simple but flavorful cabbage slaw and a creamy chipotle sauce. The shrimp taco is equally delicious, with plump, juicy shrimp that are cooked just right. It's topped with a pico de gallo and a smoky habanero sauce. Both tacos are served on warm, blue corn tortillas that are perfectly soft and pliable. They're also reasonably priced, making them a great value for the quality of food. If you're looking for some of the best tacos in San Diego, I highly recommend checking out The Craft Taco at SOVA. You won't be disappointed.

The shop might not be visible from the street, but it's in front of New English Brewery. All the craft tacos sound amazing! I had a hard time choosing which one I want and finally settled on the Baja Poke taco because it sounded the most unique. The taco is fairly large and with a generous side of beans, it can easily be a small meal. The Baja Poke taco is an absolute delight. I really enjoyed the unique flavors of this taco. The tortilla is blue, thick and holds up the ingredients well. The poke melts in your mouth and the tortilla strips and preserved ginger (like those you get with sushi) add a nice crunch to the taco. If you're looking for something different, a fusion of sorts, I highly recommend giving this one a go.

I loved the CARNE ASADA BOWL. I added cheese, and the whole thing was so fresh and full of flavor. The CALIFORNIA BURRITO is fantastic. The MISH FISH BURRITO is one of my favorite things so far. That really surprised me because I’m not much of a fish eater. If you are, I would highly recommend it. The NOPALES (cactus) taco was so good too. The GUACAMOLE is really fresh and delicious. I got a side of that and the rice. The RICE has a kick, but I love spice. I have been meaning to try this place for a while. It's always nice when they live up to expectations and more. I am having so much fun working my way through the menu. So far, I have only done takeout. I need to go soon to actually try the fancy craft tacos!
