Java Shack — Restaurant in San Diego

I was visiting the area for a work trip and looking for coffee/ pastries to bring to the office. MUCH better than going the Panera / Starbucks route plus the added benefit of supporting local. Convenient online ordering to make your morning pickup even faster. Delicious pastries and scones from a local bakery - light and flakey. Favorite (so far!) is the white chocolate cranberry. Also on my list to try - brownies, muffins, bagels, paninis. The Acai bowl a delicious and will be part of my morning fix for breakfast when I am visiting. Quick in and out...

Ownership changed 8 weeks ago to Joy and she is absolutely killing it! She comes up with her own unique seasonal flavors and they are out of this world. She puts so much effort into having quality ingredients so you get the quality you pay for and it’s so refreshing to see. She is so friendly too. I wish the best success for Java Shack/Joy....

I do prefer to support small local coffeeshops over Starbucks, but unfortunately this just doesn't stand up to the comparison. The bagel was too stale to even bite into, and the coffee was just medicore. Better than gas station coffee, but worse than Dunkin's. I would get drinks here if I worked next door, but I wouldn't go more than a few...
