Licon's Dairy Farm has been a favorite "go to" for me since i was a kid. It's grown from the small walk-up mini cottage where we could see a group of family related workers shaped hot azadero discs while we watched as we stood at the "pass-thru" window. Besides their superb azaderos the shop has always featured incredible pure, natural, rich bars/ bricks of butter- with flavor to die for. They also carry suero- the milky liquid by-product that can be used to make world class chile con queso. Natural, wholesome Cottage cheese is also available. The petting zoo has been a part of the family adventure experience since i can remember-decades! And, since my childhood visits, the business has evolved to include a picnic area with cookout grills, a fishing hole that has sitting and pole stands and wonderful, stocked water hole. And now, the Licon shop has azadero with habanero chile, cheesecakes, many other cheese blocks with other spicy ingredients, sensational, natural cabrito (goat) meat, barbacoa, Blue Bunny ice creams and much more-you gotta come visit and teach your kids to enjoy quality family time at this family friendly...
Read moreWe headed here on Saturday around 2pm and it was pretty busy. Getting here is quite easy and it is not a far drive from El Paso.
We decided to walk around first and then head to the little convenience store after. As soon as you walk in the entrance you are greeted by cute donkeys and a huge water tank.
There are cows, llamas, goats, deer, cute little sheep, chickens, roosters, and a huge camel to name a few! We thought there was going to be a "petting section," but there wasn't. There is a huge pond in the middle where we heard that you can sometimes fish in it for an extra fee. There are also little boats you can rent, but on this day it was closed.
There is a huge playground for kids to play on and a few tables to sit for snacks. We saw two mini ponies and for $5 your young one can ride them around!
The store is small and there are various treats and snacks to buy! We had a great time here and glad we visited as we are avid animal lovers!

Read moreWas very excited to visit this place since I’m a major animal lover and would love an animal sanctuary of my own one day, and I just have to say I was very sad at the conditions of some of these animals. The cows they had were skinny and they hardly had any shade. They did have these black cows that were so beautiful and those were well fed for probably obvious reasons. The horse rides were crazy… my husband asked how much for a ride and the man told us 10 for the pony and 15 for the horse. Then after my little cousin went and he told her 15 for the pony and 20 for the horse it was crazy also was so sad to see that the pony had a cut near its eye from where the reign was rubbing on its skin. Again was just very very sad to see since they do ask for donations. I never leave bad reviews but I just wish people would care for animals better since they do provide us with just as much if not more than what we...
