The place is of great historical importance that every Texan has to visit. I wish more sign boards being kept at I-35 as its very easy to miss the exit.
Features: Once you enter the town, you shall see the historical marker noting that the town was built by Stephen F.Austin as the first settlement in Texas. Important point is the entire place is recreated as the original place is burnt down by settlers, if you are in looking for an original building or place, sadly nothing exists
But nevertheless, the government has took great efforts to recreate the original(attached pics) and is peaceful to visit on a weekend. Stephen F Austin statue & monument is located at other side of the visitor center.
It takes in 2hours to visit the entire place and if got time can visit the state park nearby but these are the things you can do in entire down. It doesn't have any restaurants or coffee place so need to stop by Sealy. They also provide free Texas monuments passports so that you can get it stamped once you visit other places related to Texas revolution....

Read moreMy wife and I visited there and it's a really cool place. I thought the videos and interactive touch screens were great, and I noticed that they're also closed-captioned which is great for equal access to communication. The exhibits were pretty cool too. They also have a gift shop if you want to buy a souvenir. Once you finish the museum tour, I would strongly recommend that you cover all the gravel trails on the outside property to read the trail markers, enjoy the scenery along the way and visit the cabin buildings (and see a group of people in period dress). Don't pass this place up since it's an important part of...
