Santana Row Parking Nickel and Dime Cheapens the Experience.
This is for Santana Row, especially for their new pay to park situation.
Background: Finished the night out, scanned the QR code and paid for parking. That's fine, it's the new rules. I get to the exit and the parking barrier would not go up, so press the button to call for parking attendant. I explained to the parking attendant that I paid already and I am ready to go. She asks for full name, phone number. I ask why I already paid and this is my plate number. She repeats that she needs my full name-first and last, and complete phone number. I had no choice but to oblige such a ridiculous demand. Mind you, I am saying a lot of personal information while random strangers walk around listening to this back and forth conversation.
Issues: Main issue is privacy, they are requesting all this personal information out loud and over the speaker-first name, last name, phone number-where anyone can hear you and possible dox you in the age of information and internet. The more pressing issue: Santana Row is supposed to be a premium and luxury experience, if they're going to charge you for parking, at least do it with some dignity. They are nickel-and- diming customers while pretending to be a luxury experience and adding insult to injury, they're too cheap to pay actual live parking attendants to collect the parking fees. Instead they take half ass measures with half ass QR codes that can't even verify if the parking has been paid for already
Conclusion: This is comparable to McDonalds overcharging you premium prices for a soggy meal. You pay for the extra sauces and they have the audacity to demand a reason why you need sauces.
Even poverty stricken Bayfair Mall provides free parking. Santana Row has cheapened the luxury premium experience with paid parking and half ass service. Go...
Read moreThis review is specifically about the Winchester Parking Garage overnight experience. These past two nights, my partner and I stayed two nights at the Hotel Valencia where garage parking had always been covered as a hotel guest by placing a hotel card on our dashboard (from the previous 4x we've stayed). This is no longer the case, and not that much of a big deal except when I got back to our car, I noticed some liquid spill on the driver's side windshield, side mirror, and door. I was rushing to get out bc I had already paid for parking on the app so didn't take too much time to inspect what had happened. I used my windshield wiper/liquid to clear my vision and thought maybe someone had put a drink on my car temporarily and maybe it spilled --nbd. When I got home, I smelled something funky, and when I got close to the remaining dried liquid on my window, I realized it was urine. So this means, someone in the last two nights either threw at or poured urine on our car. It smelled terrible and the thought of it is still disgusting and disturbing.
The parking garage thing was probably the most egregious thing that happened during our stay. This, in addition to other new money-grabbing policies/service from other Santana Row vendors, left a sour taste in our mouths. I'm pretty bummed about it because we've been doing this tradition since before the pandemic, and the space now just feels icky. Unless we have to, we will most likely not be...
